United (A) - League Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

I actually feel a bit sorry for him and some of the United players. Realistically the only chance in their careers of silverware is the Carabou Cup and we keep knocking them out in the semis.

Why, they chose to go there. It's also directly down to them if they win nothing.
Lastly, they can always leave for a more potentially successful team. WBA are hiring...

You are joking aren't you? It was actually mentioned how we looked brighter because of the EXTRA rest we had before the match (by not playing everton)
No mention that we played three days earlier.
I didn't even hear one reference during the game how many we had out or returning after Covid/Injury.

Oh and did anybody notice how the ref was constantly taking positions that blocked our play down the left flank?
This is not meant to be sexist, but my lads girlfriend who has no interest in football ( likes City rather than united) watched the match with us last night, had no choice as she lives with us. Only comment she made was “why does the referee keep getting in city’s way?”

It is simple, we were better than them, we kept the ball better, we defended better, in every department we were better and we had players missing. Its a wake up call to the the rag cunts that whatever they have done of late, they are not on our level.

This time last year defensively we looked shot, now we don't look like we will ever concede. The Stones and Dias partnership has an astonishing record, I think its 1 goal conceded in 9 games they have played together. I think we all thought Stones was finished at City, for him to turn it round speaks volumes about his character. Dias looks an amazing signing. To come from the Portuguese league to England and play with so much authority , calmness, commitment and skill makes him look an absolute bargain buy. To think we have Laporte and Ake as well and we now have superb defensive cover.

Shout out to Cancelo and Zincho as well, i thought both were superb last night, they defended well and used the ball well, always offering us an option.

In the midfield, we dominated them, that carthorse Mctominay was made to look like a carthorse who needs putting out to grass, he never got near Gundo or Ferna, how i wish we had a 23 year old Ferna, what a player that lad is.

Sterling and Mahrez worked there socks off, not the most productive night for them, but they never let the rag fuckers settle and both worked back which is something I don't really expect from Mahrez, but he put in a shift and if it wasn't for that amazing save he would have scored one of the great derby goals.

Phil and Kev scared them to death, they were so much better than there supposed rivals, Fernandes and the rag younger ones. Fernandes was anonymous, Pogba was shite, Rashford was never in it, their MOM was their keeper.

Young Zack looks a good un too, i was nervous about him playing, but had no need to be, he is quality and will be pushing Ederson big time.

The biggest difference of all though was we wanted it more, the togetherness of our players on a very emotional night for our club was a joy to behold. They loved it and did the King proud.

Bloody well said, mate!!

There was a foul early on in the first half by Fern on Bruno, it was just a normal shithouse Fern tackle to break up the play but it rattled Bruno. Not the tackle in itself, because as much as he is a diving ****, he also wants to win and probably legitimately gets fouled a bit as well. But it was the moment that Bruno started complaining to the ref and Fern just stood there staring at him, basically saying this shit is gonna happen to you all night mate. That's what we miss with Rodri, he doesn't have that snap and bite that's needed in these types of games.

Another key moment for me was Dias constantly talking, constantly giving and receiving encouragement when doing a block or good tackle. This is exactly what we have been missing, all the way back from when Vinny started getting his injuries. It's easy to play something like that down, but if you have played team sports, you know how important it is and it can somehow just take you up levels in performance. In fact, Pep mentioned it in the post match interviews. It's HUGE.

I was disappointed again with Mahrez, fair's fair and this isn't his position, but Pep asks a lot of his players and it's up to you to deliver. He asked it of Torres this season, the kid has delivered. He asked it of Kevin against Chelsea, he delivered. Sterling struggled in that position and he had some time on the bench, but you know you get workrate from Sterling. If you aren't going to perform, you need to work, work, work, and Mahrez just doesn't get it.

I was a bit nervous thought City had slowed up after 35 mins, and the rags were going to get on top.
2 great performances this week!
New tactical approach from Pep I reckon. Made the defence solid so we know we can step off it a little and strike again when needed

Helps draw the opposition out instead of us doing what we were doing and camping in their own half against a brick wall
