United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I’ll get pelters but fuck it pep and this style of football is finished, no team fear us anymore and pep’s inability or stubbornness to change things and his insistance in playing the old guard has pushed us into decline. I get the idea of Kev’s last swansong derby but everyone can see he’s been done for 18 months. Kova and gundo in midfield is a disaster waiting to happen. And what has happened to Phil foden.
I think it’s time for a change of manager and new ideas, I’ll always be thankful for how brilliant he’s been and the trophy’s he’s given us but like half the team I think he’s done.
That rag side with a decent striker we could have lost 3-0 and they are bang average.
Hoping we can consolidate a chumps league place and prey whoever’s at the helm get the summer signings bang on otherwise get used to being a top 6 side.
So, we've gone from winning 4 in a row to this season and he's finished? Wow!

A bit of effort might of made a difference. They were better than us, made the best chances and won all the 50/50 balls. Pathetic effort once again this season and again impossible to pick out a MOM as all as bad as the others.
Problem is the perceived lack of effort isnt that....its physicality that isnt there...Look at how KDB is running...he cant even play a through ball on the run anymore...how many misplaced passes from him...simply cause his hamstrings are fucked - he cant move his legs as he wants to

Gundo the same - cant turn out of trouble anymore....

Bernardo has ran himself into the ground over the last few seasons - his legs are gone

Phils issue is clearly both physical and now mental as well (we know he had injruy issues at the start of the season)

People want to make out that its lack of effort as the truth is worse - these players simply are NOT good enough anymore and the team as a whole simply isnt that good

The substitutions made us worse!

What has happened to Pep?

What has happened to our recruitment?

Make no mistake, they are and were absolutely terrible, their league position is not false, yet they looked the more likely that second half.

Jack Grealish plays OK midweek, scores and is back on the bench.

No wonder the players coming on from the bench don't affect the game, they are pissed off at being dropped.
Madness to leave Jack Grealish out of the starting eleven after his performance midweek.

Pep is still too attached to his players that he relied on for years, That needs changing.

Grealish should have started and Marmoush should have started up front. Instead he went for De Bruyne up front with what looked to be absolutely nobody in behind him.

It's bonkers.

i’m sometimes unjustly accused of being a happy clapper. But that was just turgid sh1t with little desire. Phil has turned into Roy Cropper overnight and I thought the scum singing about his mum might fire him up but to no avail. To not beat what is probably their worse team since the 70’s is a shambles and worryingly we didn’t deserve to. We need to set our own agenda for games instead of spending ages trying to suss them out I think they call it respecting They have literally nothing to play for in the league and we still didn’t have the guile or endeavour to take control and win it.
As Rick Mayall said BORING BORING BORING
The squad is fucked. Rodri, Bob and Stones amongst others getting injured meant that other players had to step up and play more matches, and often out of position. No team in the history of the game has ever been able to sustain the level of intensity we've seen from City over the past 5 season, and not have a dip in form.

I'm hoping it's a transitional season. Time will tell.

'Every game is a final,' the boss said.

Not even worthy of an FA Vase final, that.

Fair play to those drawing positives.
I lost all my positivity when we put in that truly turgid display against Southampton at home on the 26th October, I knew we were shot there and then.

The injuries have been horrendous this season, obviously they have had a huge impact but also, at this moment in time, half our squad just isn't good enough for a club wanting to win titles or CL's.

went to the pub before the game , bit pissed then got back and had sex with my girlfriend rather than watch that

from the match report sounds a bit like the 0-0 in winter 2010 at their place when we played a defensive team?
What's your match report from this afternoon?

Bernardo, Nunes and Ederson were superb. Dias and Gvardiol both very good too. Rest I wouldn't have noticed had they snuck off at any point in the game for a massive dump and not come back.

I said pre-match id take a draw having anticipated that kind of game so i'll take the point but the performance was pathetic from us. not the players fault though that is entirely on the Pep. the lineup and gameplan was woeful once again.

We all could have predicted exactly how that would play out before kick off, the only surprise is they didn't take one of their chances and sneak a win. Infact i predicted exactly that game minus the united breakaway goal days ago and i bet many others did too so why didnt pep see that panning out like that too?

Lost all control of the game when gundo went off and its sheer inconpetence from them thats got us away from the crumbling swamp with a point. We're certainly the happier team with the result based on performance.

United haven't kept a clean sheet at old Trafford in over 4 months until today, yet we didn't ever look like troubling them. Abysmal football and I don't think Pep is going to change it next season either.

The players aren't the problem here, the tactics are.
I agree with a lot of this. I do think that the last few games should have showed Pep you cannot expect a vintage Gundo performance when he is paired with Kovacic. When he had Nico alongside he looked back to what we know he can be - so why change it? Pep must have been part of the call to bring Gonzalez here but as with several other younger players he doesn't seem to trust him yet. So yes tactics were wrong and for me Kovacic over Nico is a really poor call from the manager.

We need to win games or it's no CL next season so today we neither looked to the future (only 1 of our Jan signings played) or get the result by using Peps old boys.

Finally I like most of our fans, can't stand Casimero and think he's a bust but it tells me a lot in a local derby that he was the only midfielder winning challenges. Our players seemed frightened and lost nearly every 50/50.

We need a lot of players next year.

Remember when those who criticised the starting line up because it hasn't worked all fucking season were called 'wet fannies'.

Interesting....
I totally understand our success and what these players have achieved. However that doesn't mean you can't criticise. I hate that 'wet fanny' and 'dry your knickers' nonsense.

You can't have it both ways with people saying beat team ever, beat player ever, never been done before etc, etc, etc. That's absolutely bang on and what they deserve after the last 7 years.

However, this season they've been pump. The football has not been good to watch. Some of the players appear to be sleep walking through games. Some just aren't good enough and just because they've been great before does not absolve them from criticism.

Anyway, the season will be over soon.

That game was lost on sentiment.

Pep thinking Kev and Gundo were gonna turn into 2 years ago Kev n Gundo.

And also thinking Kova was gonna turn into Busquets after seeing him play like Bebe for 2 years.

He is absolutely blinkered by the playing the old boys.
Yeah, no logical reason to start Kev.

When you’ve just come out and said he’s not good enough to remain at the club I fail to see why he would play the whole game in one of our most important matches of the season.

Stop bullshitting, you probably had sex at halftime at best.

That's not really the point is it? By that logic staying up this season would be worth celebrating, not nearly enough given our setup is it?

*Oh and so far, we've gone 1 round further than Preston.
Its entirely the point, we arent entitled to a damn thing and we are having an off season and given the injuries we have had this season its a fucking miracle we are where we are so of course 5th isnt what we want or what we are used to but you have to look at the season and whats occured in it and accept the reality of that

So many of those players know they are leaving, and simply don't care, the others are just nowhere near the level.

Its utterly depressing trying to convince myself that the future is bright, watching Nico, Rico, marmoush, doku and Savinho et al….
