I'm coming to the view that what we've seen under Pep is a phenomenon. It will not be repeated. I've been blessed to have been in the Etihad to watch it. Sure, we'll spend money and constantly be fighting for the title but never will that sublime version of football be repeated.Quite possibly. If he’s still here.
But is it realistic to think that we’ll get sufficient talent in or - more importantly - that it’s simply a case of improving the squad and leaving the system unchanged? Personally, I think there’s a stronger argument to modernise and refresh the system, and then recruit round pegs into round holes.
No way can I see us being stuffed again with the calibre of players we’ve enjoyed in the recent past: Merlin, Yaya, Aguero, Kompany, Fernandinho, peak KdB, peak Gundo, peak Bernardo, peak Walker, peak Foden, pre-injury Rodri and so on. 4 or 5 of their peers and we’ll be doing well. A virtual team full? No way.
Don’t get me wrong. Some of our younger players have serious potential so I’m not being unduly pessimistic. I’m just not expecting a return to former glories next season under Pep or anybody else.
"I saw many good things"
Bless his cotton socks.
I can't think of a worse side in that time.Just been on you tube and found a rag after match video
Webby and O'Neil?
There's 2 of them
1 old guy and 1 younger
The old 1 said its the worst City side
He's seen in 15 years
Talk about Red Selective Memory.
That old fart isn't capable of remembering the 6-3 or all the other batterings handed out to them
They really are as a collective
Thick as pigshit
Which makes our position even more worryingThe league as a whole has been very poor quality this season.
Channeling his inner Ted Lasso? He'd fit right in on here!Love the guy but he doesn't half talk a load of bollocks
Completely agree. What a time it’s been.I'm coming to the view that what we've seen under Pep is a phenomenon. It will not be repeated. I've been blessed to have been in the Etihad to watch it. Sure, we'll spend money and constantly be fighting for the title but never will that sublime version of football be repeated.
Hope you're right but, I don't believe anything changes next season.Awful performance from most of the side. Lost too many duels, went down too easy hoping for free kicks we were never getting and showed too much respect to a rags side who are beyond pony.
The only consolation is that we will be loads better when the team is revamped next season whereas the rags probably won't.
So go on who and where?I’d pick the future not the past
Agree, great times to be a blue but, it's over.I'm coming to the view that what we've seen under Pep is a phenomenon. It will not be repeated. I've been blessed to have been in the Etihad to watch it. Sure, we'll spend money and constantly be fighting for the title but never will that sublime version of football be repeated.
Why do you feel so entitled as to disparage a significant number of posters? Do you not think it fair to expect positive signs of a turn-round before the end of the season? Pep is untried in present circumstances. His record buys him time but blind loyalty without results can only go on so long. You saw an example of blind loyalty today with all our FOCs picked together.Reading elements of this thread when did we become so raggish and entitled. Pep is suddenly a Steve McLaren level coach… FFS. I think Pep has made mistakes but he’s earned the right to oversee a rebuild and we are lucky to have him. We need to keep things in perspective and show some LOYALTY.
I think you mean pita-ful mate. Sorry, shit joke, shit game, I’m pissed so off to bed.Like watching two tramps fighting over a kebab!
You are presuming we get the level of player in that we need...Awful performance from most of the side. Lost too many duels, went down too easy hoping for free kicks we were never getting and showed too much respect to a rags side who are beyond pony.
The only consolation is that we will be loads better when the team is revamped next season whereas the rags probably won't.
