Andy "not for me Clive" Townsend said in the 1st half, Ratface had the freedom of old trafford behind mbuemo and Pep needed to counteract this. He never did

My main worry is that Pep still doesn't change anything when he sees Plan A isn't working. I know he said previously he has no Plan B as Plan A should work, but I'd love to see him after 20 minutes of a game see it not working and make tweaks to change it.

They hammered us for the first time on 30 years.
It was a disaster from start to finish. We were asking for it - and it wasn’t even like we had a load of shots and they sucker punched us. We could still be there now and we wouldn’t be a threat on their goal

Really, really bad
Should have been a walloping we would never forget, dodged a bullet really

Unless the entire team took it upon themselves to collectively ignore Pep's instructions, his tactics also played a part, don't you think?

The fatigue factor is precisely why today's approach was difficult to fathom. Stretching the game like that, just asking for it.

To hear Pep saying that they had more energy - the interviewer should have asked 'well, that was pretty apparent from the off - why didn't you adapt your tactics?'
We have played many more games than them. It’s just a reality. Foden and Haaland look very fatigued mentally and physically. No excuse. Just the way the cookie crumbles. We need to win the League Cup and take it from there. A lot of teams playing in Europe look knackered. Too many international games as well. Chelsea and Arsenal look tired. It’s a strange season.

They had 3 goal disallowed. They were all the same, we didn’t learn from any of them - I don’t know what was going on

But that said, it was 0-0 when Cherki did that horrific free kick and only 1-0 when we let the ball roll across the box for some average left back to score. So sloppy, so unaware, seemingly so underprepared. All very odd really

I’d play Max in the next game. Yes he seemed a little out of his depth but these things happen and Ake is 10 years older than him - did he cover himself in glory? No, nowhere near it

Most of the passes we try to play through to him are cut out, because we telegraph our intentions to defenders .... we need to be more cunning and vary the passes like KDB used to do ... at times he could be pinpoint with them, at other times he would take defenders by surprise by lobbing or chipping the ball through, or by using the outside of his foot ..... we also need to pass the ball as soon as we can, instead of dallying on it waiting for openings to Haaland to eventually arrive, because we are giving teams time to regroup or organise their defence.
KDB was a one off. However we do need a dynamic ball carrying midfielder, who is hard to knock off the ball and can break the lines.

Still sick after that. Worst but is that everyone knew what was going to happen as soon as the team selection hit at 11:15. Absolutely fucking abysmal.

Lewis might be a blue and a good kid but he's nowhere fucking near the standard.

Ake is fucking done and has been for a year.

A blind man on a galloping horse could see the rags would hit the wings on the counter at pace.

Could have been 6

Just fucking tragically shite.
I was in the ground when we saw the team. Ake and Lewis stuck out. Kusanov and OReilly needed to be on the flanks. They killed us down the flanks from the first minute. They could have slaughtered us.

Shows how much we need Guehi. I thought Alleyne was unlucky to be taken off. He was far from the worst in defence. It’s a long time since we lost a Derby like that. They have scraped a few results but not dominated like that for the last decade. We will come again though.

We have, but without a modicum of consideration for whether the tactics are sustainable through the match, that excuse is not so easy to justify.

Some on here simply won't allow themselves to acknowledge that anything could have been done differently.

Sounds like you’re the one in the parallel universe, or is that just France & Italy?!

I’ll stand by the fact that he was the relief valve when we were ridiculously shaky in the first half.

Whenever we had any control of the game, or moving through the gears in the middle of the park, it was because of him.

YMMV.
I''ll say just this, if Rodri's performance today has been 8/10 and he had some influence on the game, then every single one of his pre-injury performances were 15+/10. Possible, yes in another universe.

Not related to your post sir, it is funny reading it here that poor Rico caused us another defeat.

Yep. Fernandes didn’t play in midfield. He started high then game deep, like in the cup final

We couldn’t get close to him. Which pains me to say because we should have been much better

United have been second best in every game that I’ve watched them in this season. Yet we come along and they dominate us like they haven’t done for 30 years!

Think Carrick probably deserves some credit for his line up and tactics. They worked. Maguire coming back in steadied their back line.

Doesn’t excuse our woeful performance though. One of the worst of Pep’s tenure that for me.
