United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Still got a massive foom on about this.

Being in that stadium , sat 2 seats away from the the red bastards, ranks pretty low in my City supporting life.
And ive seen some shite.

I was there in the united end when they beat us 5-0, they laughed at us that night.
They were laughing again on saturday.

I thought them days were gone but didnt account for erling and co strolling around a football pitch.

David brightwell, yes. But not this lot
Even though we've been by and large the better team than them for yonks it pisses me off how charitable we've been at times on the pitch to them. The Cup Final, 2-3 at home for the title, last season at home and last Sat amongst others. We've made them suffer but crikey we've been slack at times.

I commend you being there mate, but come on, apples and pears that. Laughing through gritted teeth on Saturday.

Relatively speaking, looking at where we are and where they are, I don't think there has been many worse. Maybe the 2-3 at our place, but they weren't the worst team and there were odd circumstances like rotation for Europe.

Completely abject, outthought, outfought. If they'd have gone down to 10, I still think they'd have beaten us.

Let's face it, they haven't beaten us with outlandish tactics. They've beaten us because they played with intensity, got in our faces and unsettled us and nobody had the bollocks to show up.

I thought we'd rode the storm after the first 20 minutes of the game. We started to find the spare man in behind their press but we weren't clever enough to use the ball properly and they got men back in. Really really disappointing.

When we got in at the half level, that should have been the trigger to rattle a few of them in the changing room and change it up. But we probably got worse.

Only positive was being on a tram before the final whistle sounded.

I dont think the club we are has ever quite understood what derby day means to us

Possibly. It's built up over time and then becomes ingrained. You can't just step into it and have that depth of feeling. We've definitely had some players, and likely others at the club, who get it. Always a bit different for the fans though. Hopefully Sat lunchtime will be a turning point for better things this season.

Oh no. It maybe utter delusion, but it was laughing at how shite we were. And fuck me were we shite

Not been so pissed off with City and Pep since totally fucking up the potential title win againt them. Once in a life time chancr

After the Lords Mayor show and a non show for City, we need to take stock and realize the issues the team and squad still have to address.
When Pep arrived after his first season in charge he went out and purchased two fast strong and physical full backs so he could play the football he wanted to implement. City need two full backs and not midfield players in those positions, we have the centre halves and the goal keeper which is the based of the team. The midfield needs legs which we don't have, which again needs sorting out Anderson from Forest looks a good fit, Rodri if and when he returns to full fitness is the lynch pin to how we play with assistance from Nico and O` Reilly.
Semenyo has to play on the left hand side and will fit into our system with a top class left back.
The Viking needs support and the ball playing early and crosses from both sides so the opponents defence has to consider both options. Cherki is a number 10 and needs to play the striker. Foden who I am a huge fan needs to wake up having played with David Silva KDB etc and should know better the standards set under Pep. Play the false 9 sometimes and not the same system so other teams will have to adapt. The squad needs balance with back up across all positions if we are to continue playing on four fronts season after season.
All is not lost a few wins in the league and beat the barcodes and we will see a big difference in players confidences returning.

We don't know what goes on but what we do know is that city walk away from top targets all the time. Getting next best has been a method that has served us well.

World class players for certain positions is a must in an all conquering pep team. He also cares a lot about the club, last season stopped buying what was required because he didn’t see the squad falling apart like it did. Wanted to save city a few quid.

I would say overall we have let him down with player recruitment. Asked him to perform miracles on a lot of ok/good players but not world class.

Give him what he needs. That is not potential but Top tier. Now money maybe an issue at times and how we are viewed on net spend and ffp/115. Plus world class is very expensive.
Top targets like Wirtz you mean? Or many others I could mention who have done nothing.

Regardless of what anybody thinks at the moment there's not a team in Europe that wouldn't want Haaland in their team. We stole him. We stole Cherki. We stole Guehi. We stole Donnarumma. It's called astute business.

PSG put together a team of superstars and it got them nowhere. Then they got rid of them and win the Champions League.

Our Manchester based rags brother-in-law was giving my wife heaps when she phoned to speak to her sister on Sunday. I sent him an email yesterday with the subject line "Grimsby and Brighton" - nothing else.
The person also claimed that United fans never leave early. I will not repeat my wife's comment to that statement. But yesterday I dug out my video of the 6-1 demolition and sent him a clip of the SIXTH goal with hundreds (probably thousands) of empty seats in the background. That shut him up!!!!

A Manchester City fan watched the derby against Manchester United on Thai TV. After the final whistle, he took drugs – a really stupid idea. The police showed him a red card!

The officers confiscated several methamphetamine pills, arrested him, and took him to the station – that was essentially the first step. But the day was about to get even worse for the Man City fan. First, he had to endure the obligatory arrest photo at the station. Normally, Thais don't take drugs lightly , but this time the officers made a joke of it. They lined up behind the man – all wearing their Manchester United shirts!
