United (A) | Post Match Thread

The mere fact that Rashford runs after the ball from an offside position means he interfers with the play. His movement obstructs Akanji's movement and thus shields the ball for Fernandes. One must be utterly biased or silly to believe the goal should have stood.

I feel optimistic after that game. Second half was really good. The loss will help us long term.

Proud with this team and manager.
This is the exact point, people over analysing. Rashford runs alongside the ball, of course he therefore interferes.

Let's all take a moment to acknowledge that today is nothing new, City have (for the most part) been screwed over time and again by officials who bend over backwards to help "important clubs." It really is a testament to City's greatness that year after year they're at the top of the league and challenging in Europe in spite of constant cheating against them. You have to assume in any big match that if it's close City will lose the big decisions so they'll always need an extra goal to actually win. Today they didn't score that buffer goal and it bit them in the ass.
You should never have to score the second goal if all things are equal. But its not an equal playing field. It never was

Forget blaming the officials.
We don't create chances so are not winning games. And the Rags have a decent manager now so play as a team.
I still think we finish above them.
As for spurs Thursday night honestly anything could happen. CTID

This is where is stinks. I dont know anyone that plays/played football at any kind of level, who thinks that should be a fair outcome. Akanji has defended well, caught rashford perfectly in the trap and somehow its been allowed to stand despite rashford clearly impacting the outcome because he is interfering!!
We shouldn’t be losing that game from being 1 nil up. I would have swapped Bernardo with Gundo then maybe the big man for Alvarez. I think we are making things hard for ourselves. I think foden needs to play alongside grealish. They both played well when we battered utd. I still think we have a team capable of winning the league but it’s having the desire to keep on winning it. Look at Liverpools drop off. At this moment we are still in this if spurs beat arsenal. Utd are still riding their luck and if they win it this year it’ll be because half of the officials helped them. And City,Arsenal Newcastle went to shit.

Fucking shocking!

The defending for both goals was atrocious.

In fact, apart from the few minutes leading up to our goal, we were appalling. The passing was off, the defending wasn’t much better.

It has to be said that Atwell was very poor, but we’ve come to expect that, as it happens in most of our games.

Now, there’s a real danger that those bastards will finish above us; something a whole generation of kids have never seen.
No way will they finish higher than us

Don't agree. United are a good side and we were on their turf. They have a right to make things tricky for us and they did, but we rode it out and made good changes to get on top. We were a bit slow in the first half but were much the better team for 30 mins of the second half and we were well on for a good smash and grab. But then, as I said, VAR decided to forget the offside rule and the game turned on a dime. It's a rare day that City lose and I'm not pointing fingers at some deficiency in the set-up, or a lack of overall control, but we have been properly screwed over by disgraceful officiating.
Only one team did s smash and grab there and it wasn't us
