United (A) | Post Match Thread

Losing to a dodgy goal was the worst thing that could have happened to us. We need some home truths. As ilkay said - no hunger. We're not interested. How many times to we need to lose and embarrass ourselves before we pull our finger out?

the problem with form is you need to play the same team and setup week in week out, it took 45 min to get into our normal shape and we looked good 2nd half, BUT that goal knocks the stuffing out of you ? It's not even a close call and the officials and match referee should be sacked, also sort of things you could see happening by the officials, even flagging Foden in a tight offside that shown he was level and onside, to keep the flag down for united players

IT'S GOT TO STOP (CHEATING)
Right call by the letter but should not be so black and white. Rules clearly being made and analyzed by people who don't clearly understand them from an in game live ball perspective. Rashford clearly had possession and interfered with the play whilst offsides regardless of not touching the ball.

That said our players have to respond not wilt and give up and cry they were robbed.

Unpopular opinion but Ake and Akanji are the sort of players we’d have bought when we had just come into wealth and were fighting for Top 4. They’re the sort of players I’d expect Newcastle to buy now.

Both have played well at points for us of course, as did e.g. Craig Bellamy when we bought him (but I don’t think we’d have him now). It’s an odd transfer strategy. I’d lump Phillips and Gomez in that category too, and possibly Grealish.

Ultimately I think there can be too much disregard for strength “on paper” - yes it’s not everything, but a centre back pairing of Dias, Laporte and/or Stones (putting aside injuries) should always be our preferred one.
You are right that Stones/Dias or Dias /Laporte or combination of those three would be first choice. However, we have to have squad players. We could never keep 5 top notch CB happy. They wouldn't stay.

Anyone else just finding us boring as fuck to watch recently, as well? We can 'control' the game and pass the ball around all day, but it doesn't win us games. Hugely frustrating.
Yes a little bit. Down to Pep I'd say....keep the ball at all costs. I miss the overlapping runs from walker, the pullbacks from the byline, the passes in between their fullbacks....its all pretty much gone this season. Not much football off the cuff or bits of magic these days. Crazy when u think back to last few seasons and all the chances we missed and we all thought all we needed was a finisher and now we have one of the best....we've stopped creating 30 chances a game!? It's all gone weird somehow :-(

Not seen this level from city for a long time. Going into games with no idea what type of performance we’re gonna give. Something needs changing quick

Best we go out of the FA cup next game.
We are second we beat Arsenal take four points out of the two Arsenal games and concentrate on the champions league.
Anyone just feel like giving up on football completely? Not just today but how many times over the last few years have we been screwed over by bent officials?
I'm not renewing next season, had enough of it.
City are in the blood so you can’t give up…what i want to see is offside rule made sensible, handball rule made sensible, goalies made to stay on pens and VAR binning.
