United Away Sold Out

if the OSC orders tickets 6 weeks before release then there's really no way of knowing how many would have got tickets had they bought them themselves.

The "order" might go in 6 weeks in advance, but the ticket office don't decide how many of your order you get until they go on sale (which is why some branches were picking them up yesterday). 99% of the time there is no issue, and each branch gets what they ask for, however for games like OT, well almost exclusively games at OT, they get a proportion of their order depending on the points, and how many they ask for.

As for far away branches, well its almost impossible for most to earn as many points as those in and around Manchester (say within 100 miles) for many reasons, so the supporters club do give some far away branches a small number of tickets when they maybe don't have the required points, I can't say that bothers me, I have the points, earned over the years.

I also don't see a problem with a group of people in a branch getting tickets to sit together via this method.

In my opinion the club rightly allow this method of getting tickets because the supporters club officially represent Manchester City FC, and long may it continue as it has since the late 60's, as I've said above its a small number of tickets in the grand scheme of things.

So are we agreed?

If branches can pre-order their tickets for their members on the same points as me(us)

Why can't I?(we)

What's good enough for the branch members, should be good enough for non-branch members.

BTW. I have nothing against branch members. If they've go the loyalty points, then they deserve a ticket. However, I would like a level playing field, where I stand just a good a chance of getting a ticket, even though I'm not in a branch.

So Gary(Cook) are you going to introduce pre-ordered tickets for every fan who qualifies, as long as they've got enough loyalty points?

I'd like to turn up knowing my ticket is already in the draw.

Erm, you can already do this. I got my ticket on friday, turned up at the ticket office on saturday after it had sold out and picked mine up. I'm a non branch member

Yeah, people can buy tickets if they've got enough points and sell them on, like they do on here, but my point was that there are allocations going to supporters' clubs regardless.

I can't stand going to the sty either, last time there was late 80's, so it's not a gripe about the derby, just in general!
Are there though ? As far as I understand the system now, (and I used to order our branch tickets, but before the 2 supporters clubs merged) each branch has to submit a list of supporters who wish to have a ticket, and they are then allocated a ticket depending on loyalty points, and only season card holders may apply.

There is no "300 tickets to Prestwich branch" allocation as some imagine. As I said above I'd be surprised if the total allocation to supporters clubs for the OT derby is over 150.

I am not sure for this derby but the one a few years back, a 2 nil defeat the figures were made public. That particular game there was far more than 150.

I think the loyalty system works well enough but I too am a little confused that if you attend 90% of aways since a derby 3 years ago and you have been to everyone since then how can you miss out this time ?

This only explanation can be -

Increased allocation for coporate and the £160 meal deal, this would mean that when the club was 'negotiating' over tickets they were simply deciding how many they would leave to one side for this. This would mean 100 'regulars' from previous games may miss out. Unfortunately this seems to have happened to Squirtyflower.

More points for unfashionable games. 20 or even 30 points for games which rather than rewarding 'loyalty' seem to be a money maker.

On the whole the club needs to have a word with itself about ticketing, but with regard to the loyalty points system there can be nothing better.

The marketing team have sold 200 hospitality packages and have 50 more left to sell, don't know how that compares to last season but that's why maybe the number of points this year is so much higher

Even if it's a "small" number of tickets being allocated to supporters' clubs - and the definition of "small" is up for argument - that's no consolation to those fans who've been unable to get tickets for games when really they should be getting them with the points they have.

It flies in the face of the whole purpose of the loyalty points system.

The problem is pretty clear, people in supporters clubs are getting tickets when they do not have enough points, the ticket office should not be giving tickets out to people with less than the required points - which is definitely happening.

I phoned Saturday morning 9am to get my ticket and was told that, Yes I could have a ticket, but if I phoned back at 10am, there would be a new batch of better placed tickets available. I thought great, my points total was at least a couple of days before the sell out shutters came down last season, so I wouldn't have a problem phoning back one hour later. Besides, the view at OT is pretty crap unless you're near the front.

I phoned back at 10am to be told all tickets had been sold.

What about the new batch of tickets I asked. Don't know anything about that came the reply. We've sold out and not getting anymore.

What can you do when given incorrect advice? Teach me for being picky, but so, so frustrating!
