United Away Sold Out

To be honest though the problem rests with the swamp on this one. Biggest stadium outside of Wembley and the allocation is piss poor and that's where our anger and frustration should be aimed at. They've lost sight of what was good about football in the 70s and that's the atmosphere. You can see it in the cup matches when the allocations are fairer all round. The Rags should be giving us at least 6,000 for this fixture and they could easily do that. It's a fcking Derby. If we had a 75,000 stadium I'd be comfortable with them getting 6,000. Ive been to Maine Road when they nearly had half the ground in the 80s ffs.

My only hope is that when it comes to Dublin and Wembley the true fans will get tickets. Responsibility for this problem though rests squarely with the Rags for being unreasonable and selfish.

What are the rags doing wrong?? They are giving us the allocation as per the rules. They aren't going to give us any more cos they can sell out themselves.

cant believe im goin to miss a derby! when i saw it was sold out i felt a bit of me die inside.... first time i have missed out on tickets to a derby... it's gunna be tough watchin it on a tv in a pub, especially one full of rags.

So working on those two criterias you are always playing catch up as the critieria bar is always moved on, How will the younger generation ever catch up?

maybe buy a ticket for some of the less glamourous games.

ie birmingham, west brom, west ham away.

since the system began, i would hazard a guess that over 75% of away games have made open sale, and in the 7/8 eight years of the system, loads of aways havnt even sold out.

i have sympathy with those who have just missed out, and the dropping of the points should reflect how many actual tickets are left, but the myth that young fans cannot get away tickets just doesnt stand up.

Eh?! Yeah but you can go to every single game all season and that wouldn't add up to 1250 points would it? That's how much the rise is from last season to the lowest points for a derby ticket! If it goes up 1250 points wert year to get a derby ticket there'll be a few hundred there in three years!

Well will they?! They haven't sold out a single game all season and were advertising for derby tickets in the papers and on the radio!

maybe some who didnt go last last year have chosen to go this year, and because they have earnt the points in the past they are perfectly entitled to go.

just a thing re the supporters clubs:i am a member at one of the big ones, allthough dont go away with them much nowadays, however do know that our secretary wont give derby tickets to new members who dont go away with the branch, does let regulars who dont have enough points to go though.think its the clubs fault not demanding each supporter has adequate points.
i am not going to the swamp this year, having missed only one since 76 have decided i have had enough of the shithole and abuse from there shit fans, can understand peoples anger at not getting one though particulary those with just under 5500 pts, rather go europa aways......aris here we come!!!

Maybe that's the case for a few people which is obviously fine, they have every right to go. But there seems to be something more fishy going on than just that? There are people who have been going to OT for eight years and many other sways who have missed out. A rise of 1250 points at the lowest base is very unusual, in fact, never happens!

You have missed the point completly. Young fans may well have bought tickets for less glamourous ties but whilst they are playing catch up other fans with high points have also bought tickets. So they will always be X ammount of points behind. The two sets of points criteria shows this

and like i say, what about the 75% of away games that have made open sale since the system started, and the vast number that havnt sold out.

birmingham away will consist of the hardcore, while 1500 seats remain empty.

if you are determined enough you can easily build your points up, but its always the same when the utd game come around.

the reallity is that utd has sold out around the 5000pts margin, yet over 8000 points have been available since the system started, and all season ticket holders started off with a certain amount of points, i think a 1000 was given, so in effect with all the points given for cup home games, you would have only had to have gone to about half the away games since the system started to have a bloody good chance of tickets.

for a young single bloke, its easier getting to aways than middle aged married blokes with kids, so they will keep catching up, but not if they dont do the shit games.

but 9/10 the people with the points just below the threshold will be at that game, so there will always be the gap.

I don't understand why people feel so strongly about the supporters club getting tickets using the same rules as the rest with one minor exception.

You've answered your own question there mate.

The reason i have an issue with it, is i see the purpose they served in the past, OSC's that weren't on the doorstep of the club allowed supporters to get tickets for games they would, because of geographic location, have no chance of getting.

Nowadays, with the technology, there is no excuse for any supporter in any part of the world to obtain tickets, either home or away, if they desire.

Not only that, but we have a loyalty points system for a reason... if the OSC orders tickets 6 weeks before release then there's really no way of knowing how many would have got tickets had they bought them themselves.

Its an issue that only comes up when tickets are scarce but its still an issue that needs addressing imo... as every time it comes up we have posters showing they have got a ticket through these methods when they really shouldn't have through the loyalty points system.
