United game postponed due to bomb scare

Right I'm probably repeating myself here but why would a dog handler do training without the dogs. Am I being thick. Are mounted police having training somewhere how to ride their horse without the horse being there?

Don't the dogs make the job a lot easier. Would you actually search for a bomb without them. Just a human search party?

Look.....people can get complacent on drills because they may have done them hundreds of times before...but you still have to do them and do them right or there is hell to play and I know. Why? The whole point of a drill is you do them so in the event of the real thing you know exactly what to do,especially when dealing with the public who will be probably panicking and looking to you for help and guidance.

When you say basic human error trust me you cannot get more basic than taking thirteen devices to a public location and going home with twelve, that isn't just basic it is the behaviour of someone with the IQ of an amoeba!

I agree, that's very bloody basic. Unfortunately I can also see it happening. And somehow it did happen, because in the days between when he left it and the match, no-one saw it, reported it, and he didn't discover it was missing, or report it. Rags pre-match sweep was clearly also woefully inadequate, and regardless of any statement the security guy comes out with about how it's entirely his fault, whoever decides what the punishment will be for the rags won't forget that they still should have found the device before filling the stadium up, given the fact it wasn't properly hidden (Hence my earlier point about how a pre-match search will only ever be as good as is practical, I had no idea the bomb was just hung up on the back of a toilet door).

You say it yourself, you can do drills hundreds of times and people can still get complacent. They may have every intention of doing them right every time but its just not that simple. Maybe someone is having a bad day, hungover, shit going down at home, mind elsewhere. Where people are involved there will always be an element of human error. There just will!

Woodward probably has a " prepared statement " on that aspect .

My mate is a camera man for Sky. He's got to be there 7am tomorrow to film sniffer dogs searching the stadium

Why didn't it click to their security bosses that their ground had been used in midweek for a bomb training exercise?

Had it been a genuine hoax, an unattended bag, or a malicious call etc then fair enough, but this is incompetence on a couple of levels

I bet Roy Keane wishes they did that when he was there due to his 'specialist' dog handling skills.
