United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

LOL not at all. I think there's been some serious lapses at strategic level at the club for a couple of years and it's going to take some time to sort out. The players we're putting out at the moment simply aren't good enough for the things we want to achieve. Sitting behind your keyboard and calling them a bunch of spineless fucks is frankly embarrassing.
Tough, because the lack of positioning, poor passing and half-hearted tackling, was spineless at times.

We've gone from passing back to create space or build an attack to just passing back for the sake of it. It's like over zealous muscle memory. I could see it coming a mile off. We need Red Odair ( one for the kids ) to put this one out

I read somewhere that matchday ticket revenue, including seasoncards, are a very minor part of a top club's income. And that they could still make money playing in an empty stadium. It's simply that empty grounds wouldn't look good on the telly. Remember lockdown? All those banners placed over the empty seats?
If no one supported the teams though no one would be interested in sponsorship or advertising. Yiu need people who turn up
for games to know you may actually sell the product you’re advertising or promoting. Even during the nonsense that was the lockdown plenty watched it on true as you’d little else to do so still lucrative. You’re right I think it’s only 10% for tickets but then again how much do those 10% spend in the stadium at the games and outside it. If it wasn’t for those 10% chum there’d be no football.

If the game ended at 87 mins, before Nunes lost his head, would this thread be the same? It would have been baby steps with some players on the way back a confidence boost for everyone but no it’s actually worse like Feyenoord
The fact is once again we make unforced errors and get punished We were the better of two shote teams the rags knew it hence why they were so quite Seems to be the same week in week out the only hope is we get players back and spend the money in January
The fact is we are suffering from lack of squad planning every player should have a sell on date we seem to heave too much sentimentality
They were shit but we out shitted them, wouldn't have changed anything had we won.

Trying to think constructively I think the confidence is so badly shot in the defence that extreme measures are needed until reinforcements can be brought in... So how could we change the mood a bit with what we have now.

Half the problem is our slow predictability, so if nothing else, some change of structure might buy us time.

Thinking radically...

Goal Keeper - Ederson's skilset only works if we are controlling the possession. Ortega is a miles better 'basic' goalkeeper so I'd bring him in straight away. He'd be No 1 for the rest of the season for me.

Defence - I'd drop the entire defence apart from Dias, I'd play the EDS/U23 defence ( with Dias ). The should know each other and be full of running if nothing else.

Midfield - I'd play KDB out wide and be telling him to fire in as many diagonal passes as possible from just inside the half way line and try and connect with Haaland who is making runs but never recieves the ball. Kev can't be box to box any more, so let him use the ball (like we used to!).

I'd play Grealish/Gundo as a 10 up the middle supporting Haaland. (We could also look at bringing back Delap for this).

Kovatic/Stones should be in the conventional holding MF role.

Bernardo/Foden should be given the licence to play Kova and Grealish.

Doku or Savinho to fill the last MF spot but they need to be more direct.

Will this happen with Pep in charge... will it fuck...
Pep would not do this because it is ridiculous apart from the Kev idea

All three goals today were down to luck rather than skill really. Big result for amorim as it was a brave call leaving out the two social media show-ponies, but it paid off for him. Sadly, the rags have probably got themselves a decent manager there.

I was saying throughout the game we look like a very average side playing with no confidence.
