I'm trying to forget yesterday's..Wish I could.......
I get that... but they could be in the CFA getting massages, swimming, thrashing out the problems in team meetings / watching videosThey are running on empty mentally and physically. Players playing while not fully fit because we're on the bones of our arse. They need the rest and to sort their heads out.

They could have even all gone out on a team pissup today and cleared the air with a few home truths
Instead they'll be jetting off to here there and everywhere for a couple of days
apart from the pissup hopefully ;-)I doubt they'll be jetting off anywhere in two days but they do need to recharge away from anything football related. Ideally a month off would be better. They're back Wednesday, plenty of time to do all the things you suggest and I'm sure they will.
Definitely. After everything Pep and these players have given us and the lack of pre season most of them had due to the euros, they've barely had any rest. I'd say its more important they do that and clear their minds for a few days. Hopefully a few more fit for Villa and the mentality to put this right.
Yes. Some will move on; some will recover & we’ll get new players inThat's it in a nutshell. The group peaked in the treble season and did superbly well to retain the title and were unlucky against Madrid. Don't forget that all our titles except the 100 points one we have been pushed hard all the way, first by Liverpool, then Arsenal. It's been exhausting mentally and physically. The signs were there last season that we needed a refresh, especially in the cup final. Sure we've been battered by injuries but some players have hit a brick wall now and there's no coming back.
The only youngster that we have made a mistake with in recent years is Palmer. Hard to criticise Pep for anyone else as we have been winning things. The summer of 23 when we let Palmer go and brought in Doku and Nunes was badWe have suffered some horrible Derby defeats since the takeover :
But this one feels different. In the defeats above we knew we were on the ‘up’ or undoubtedly the better team, but this feels different (Not that United are any better)
- The late Owen winner
- League Cup semi final at OT
- The possible league clincher when 2-0 up and Sterling missing numerous chances
- The Cup final
How have we let De Bruyne, Gundogan, Ederson, Walker, Stones, Ake and Silva (all over 30 and some injury prone) remain in the squad without gradually replacing them…..especially when Pep prefers a smaller squad.
I know we won the league last season but the signs were already there.
Pep has got plenty of credit in the bank but his utilisation of the younger players over the seasons has been poor and there have been times when we were either blowing teams away or that we were so far in the lead in the league that he could have played one or two of the youngsters so that they could have been ready to step into situations such as we have currently, rather than persevering with some of the old guard who can barely raise a jog.
I’m hoping Pep stays but he’s not above criticism and maybe a new DOF will freshen things up and is what is required.
