United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. There's a malaise running through the club and it's not solely a result of injuries. Something is endemically wrong. Either way, we'll find out soon enough.
Mental,Physical fatigue after years of supremacy, laced with a bit of unexpected complacency.

All key players a season older.

No r & r for most players in close season.

Perfect storm of serious injuries to key players, niggling injures and sickness, players out of postion due to no options playing when unfit, more injuries, rinse & repeat.

Loss of form & confidence, mistakes,defeats,more mistakes,more defeats rinse & repeat,rinse & repeat.

I struggle to understand why so many people dont understand the 'cause & effect' that has hit us this season.

Every team on the planet wouldve experienced what weve been going through if theyd have had enjoyed our supremacy in the last 6 /7 years.....but they did'nt and have'nt !

Pep cautioned about overloading players three years ag, perhaps we should've started the refit earlier in the knowledge that 75 + games per season would be the norm.

There may be a holistic rethink taking place from the Sheikh down about squad size and make up, pre season tours, short term financial return/ value growth and much, much more.

The start of a new and different era ??

The morning after the night before, and it hurts the same.

How did we lose that game, there horrendous.

We've regressed massively, a combination of injuries, piss poor forward planning, players out of form and fatigue.

Why are we still playing the high line with no pace in defence, why aren't we playing to Haalands strength ( running onto a through ball ) we no longer press with intensity, we constantly slow the game to walking pace allowing teams to re group and organise, we show little to no flair, we constantly pass backwards and sideways.

I hope we sign reinforcements in January coz we're in desperate need of fresh legs, pace and positivity.

Morning all.
Wanted to sleep on yesterday before posting.
Firstly. Let's not dress it up. It was a shit game involving 2 very poor teams. We were in control until the 86th minute until we decided to yet again gift the opposition the equaliser.
Nunes never will be nor ever has been a city player. No one will ever convince me otherwise. That back pass was unforgivable and then to just clatter Diallo to give the penalty away was simply pathetic. He got back. Stand him up. Wait for others to try to get back but no he made another rash decision to dive in. Awful awful. He should have just put the ball into row Z and we reset...
The winner. Ederson totally at fault. The split second he stopped always gave Diallo the advantage. Ortega needs to be our number 1 moving forward. Ederson way to complacent now, and that breeds a lack of confidence in the defence. Gvardiol I thought he could have booted it off the line rather than try a flick but he played well along with Dias were the only 2 to come out with any credit.
Now a draw for me would have been acceptable with our play at the moment but no we GAVE the points to the rags.
Moving on. Let me address the elephant in the room.A certain Erling Haaland. Piss poor. No effort. Body language all wrong and this may sound a little off hilter but If we could get over 100 mill for him I would cash in. He does not work hard enough for me. Look at Isak at Newcastle. Works his bollocks off. I know many will disagree but thats my view. Even go back to a false 9.
Bernardo, Walker, KDB, Ederson, all have stayed a season to many for me. Bringing Gundogan back hasn't worked.
Savio Doku are young and I will reserve judgement. Nunes simply not at the levels required.
Grealish. Should be playing in the 10 role.
Squad neglected as it has been has certainly hurt us. That lands on Txiki I am afraid.
Pep has indefinite credit in the bank for me and anyone who doubts him need to seriously stop.
One word of advice. Don't read or listen to the media. They are loving it. Let them. It wont last forever. Target FA cup. Top 4, knockout c league.

See you at Villa,Everton and Leicester
Totally agree.
Haaland has been part of the problem the way I see it.
We’re not playing his game, so he isn’t playing ours, is the way I see it.
Doku is trying hard and is the only one consistently getting to the byline. Haaland never makes a near post run to make it easy for Doku on his weaker foot. He hides at the back post behind the keeper and two defenders. Damn near impossible to pick out. Makes Doku look worse than he actually is.
His hold up play is terrible and his pressing is half hearted at best.
He doesn’t look interested in the fight we need at the moment.
The whole team is pedestrian but he walks more than most.

Good analysis but not sure Pep is the man for the rebuild. His contract extension appeared half hearted to me and his subdued comments yesterday sound like a man who has given up the ghost. Also realistically it will take him two years to get back to where we were, if that's possible, and then we are back to square one. I think we are ripe for a new man and a new decade long project.
So who do you think is the man for a rebuild?
This isn't on Pep. This is players making poor decisions, the team needs a huge huge refresh.
That is on Txiki and his fucking penny pinching. I expected a 12 month extention so 2 years is absolutely perfect.

Hated seeing Gvardiol scoring, he was having a poor game and has been out of position in most goals we ve conceded recently. He had two chances to stop the winning goal. Get stones in with dias asap.
Yep, I agree ..... he should have done much more to stop that shot entering the net, or divert it elsewhere ....that was really poor from Gvardiol.

Like you say, it's hardly the first error he's made over the course of the season.

You can rest assured that the Sheikh will always be primarily concerned with financial return and value growth. How he might approach this is anyone's guess although one assumes he will not want to return to the days of old and second division football.

What I am still trying to work out is why, if Nunes was playing left back, he found himself over in a right midfield position when he played that pass !?
He is a professional footballer though, he should still be able to pass from A-B correctly, and make sure that the opposition aren't closing in on 'B' before he actually does it, as Diallo clearly was ....... Nunes actions there, and then in fouling Diallo cost us this match, cost us the points, and handed United belief that they could then go on and grab a winner.
