United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good win with some concerns against the worst United side since the one that got relegated in the 70s. I think we will get better from here
Hopefully. Fitness looks awful as couldn't compete in the last 15 minutes and very lucky not to conceed a few goals. Sloppy passing quite a bit throughout but nice to see Haaland bury his chances and Foden gives us that much needed goal threat.
Still loads to improve on as beaten probably 2 of the bottom 6 teams so far and lost to the 2 top half teams

Great win today, not vintage but great to see the lads scrap it out in the derby. Haaland proving why he's the top dog amongst strikers, monstrous performance. Phil looked like he was up for the scrap for once aswell, loved that little period after his goal where he went and hacked one of them down then gave a few more of them some shit. Need some more of that!

Khusanov was great defensively at right back, completely locked that side down, whole defence looked more comfortable, whether it was the deeper line, Donnarumma's presence or the return of Josko and Nico. I'd go with that back 4 for the next couple of games aswell.

Always good beating those fuckers, so I can enjoy the rest of the evening.
I'd like to stick my neck out and say that O'Reilly had an excellent game at left back, particularly liked the megs on Ugarte.
Now need a meme of Doku taking the piss out of Shaw.
Shaw face planting at the 2nd goal could have damaged the new North stand foundations

Our spine can now be Donarumma, Gvardiol, Rodri, Foden, Haaland which by any measure is world class

question is can we find the balance around them? still not convinced about Doku, Savinho, Gonzales, Reijnders, Bobb. A lot of is just youthful promise.

Silva done nothing today to convince he should be in the team in that position, he had lost that dart of speed in the first 5 yards and now just gets bossed off the ball immediately. remember when he used to smash it in long range out of nothing? no chance of that now

Marmoush looks good enough to be a long term city player, and no judgement yet possible on Cherki.

Khusanov coming along nicely and I hope we can find a consistent back 3/4 of Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol and Ati Nouri this season.

that said everything went for us today, Haaland with clutch finishes that he wont always put away. United put pressure on at times and we still looked quite exposed through wide midfield against a team who will probably finish bottom half. they wasted loafs of opportunities with the ball at their feet in the box and napoli and arsenal will beat us if we allow that space.

dont like the 4-2-4 again today generally - the wingers dont work hard enough to cover the full backs.
Totally agree with you, apart from the win there were quite a lot of issues and no chance of beating Arsenal like that. Lets see how we fare against Napoli first .

Probably been said a hundred times already but Donnarumma was the difference today.

Thought we played ok, nothing special and certainly not getting carried away. Didn’t expect us to blow them away tbh with the form we’re in.

Haaland was a monster today though. His hold up play was the best I’ve seen in a while and he showed real fight which sometimes I feel he lacks. Phil good also. Khusanov solid at right back although a little rash early on.

But that Mbeumo shot at 2-0 goes in and it could have been a very different outcome. Donna ain’t Ederson on the ball, nobody is. But he’s a fucking good goalkeeper and I’m glad he’s blue.

Happy for Foden. If we are going to win trophies this season we need Phil to be back in top form. If Doku can now just be consistent then there is no stopping him. Classic City win this.
