United (H) Post Match Thread

His performances in the second half of last season gave everyone hope he had one last season to do a job for us, unfortunate that hasn't proved to be the case. His experience and ability to hold and keep the ball would have been invaluable yesterday.

Sadly Yaya doesn't have the legs or the engine to dominate a midfield anymore and would have been found wanting yesterday. We need to be looking for a Busquets or Makalele type player. It's all well and good having a wealth of attacking flare, but nothing to shield the back four.

No but the reality was that beating Utd in 2012 led us to win the title - even though we did try our best to mess up at home to QPR. Whenever Utd and City are in the hunt it will be a decisive game.

BTW I'm still mightily pissed off about yesterday.
You me and a whole lot of others ...must be the opening lines of something

We had enough opportunities to make any referee fuck ups null & void. The fact is Sterling missed 2 sitters & De Gea pulled off 2 world class saves.

We shouldn't have to rely on perfect referreeing displays to win. We were 2-0 up & fucked it. The referees errors just made it harder to swallow.

The defending was poor, the finishing was poor. The refereeing and lino-ing was execrable!

The thing that I find strange is that yesterday we started the game without a recognised striker, no Kev and no Kyle Walker against the team second in the league. I know Pep had on eye on Tuesday and up to half time it seemed an astute piece of coaching, but it backfired on three ways. One we lost the chance to sew the league up against our biggest rivals, we ended up bringing Kev, Kun and GJ who would have expelled more energy chasing the game than had they started and we now go into Tuesdays game extremely deflated both on and off the pitch. I have absolute faith in Pep, but he makes some real odd decisions, which will either make what should have been a fantastic season into a great season or prove to be a masterstroke if we somehow win on Tuesday and then went on to win the competition outright.

We need to stop being defined by a game here and a game there. For me, this season has been way in advance of anything I expected. I hoped that next season our dominance might be something approaching this one but to have it now is somewhat unexpected.
As for this week in general and yesterday in particular, apparently Pep hasn’t the first clue about football. By playing a slightly different team he would have GUARANTEED us a victory, such is the level of punditry and expertise on this forum. Not only that, but Aguero would have made the exact same runs as Sterling but would have scored (because he’s never missed a chance, ever). KDB would have tracked Pogba and stopped him scoring and Walker would have controlled that floated pass that Otamendi gave to Danilo which led to the free kick. Or maybe they wouldn’t.
I’ve also read some bollocks about if Pep had been in charge against QPR he’d have rested Aguero and 2012 wouldn’t have happened. In reality of course, he would have been able to rest him because they wouldn’t have been winning it in the last 4 minutes of the season!
Being defined by 2 games a season against Utd should be confined to history. Playing the sort of football which will endure for years to come and not be forgotten next week, finishing above them 4 times in a row and 5 seasons out of 6 should be our benchmark.
I’d happily get beat twice a season by them if we won 3/4 in a row. Whilst winning yesterday would have been fantastic, winning it in 1,2 or 3 weeks will be equally fantastic and I, for one, won’t ever tire of seeing us win stuff.
They celebrated yesterday like they’d won the title or got back into the race at least. They reminded me of us from 1980-2011 and I’ll remember that for years to come.
This all day long.

Bollocks no need to cry he's a grown lad ffs. Pep may have played a weaken side but that side found itself 2 up with many missed opportunities to go 3/4. Ref deserves as much criticism as Pep he failed to do his job as well.

In all honesty is their anything wrong with men crying?
I often cry when I get upset is that a problem?

Its incredibly frustrating and annoying, but that is how the majority of these clowns get their kicks. We,as admin, know who they are and we try to watch them carefully. However, despite best efforts (and deleting plenty without it getting on the board) we miss the occasional WUM/Troll type comment and that is where reporting such would be much appreciated.Simply moaning about other members or replying with anger doesn't help and keeps us in the dark.
I appreciate your efforts, thank you.

I disagree these posts don’t help, though, as the ones I am referring to are fairly subtle efforts, so you may not even be able to reasonably address them, unfortunately. I have found from modding other forums (City related and otherwise) that the “alert” posts do help call out the behaviour to regular (real) users—as in the heat of the moment people tend to just react or internalise, rather than identify and ignore—which tends to be the best defense to the subtle echo-trolling, apart from best effort clean-up, which you are already doing. The trolls want to amplify negativity already present to a critical level, so identifying the tactics eventually leads to less activity (though, they’ll still try to keep on in the short-term).

I’ve always appreciated other users generally pointing out that sort of the activity, without malice, (rather than replying directly, as you have said) as it usually leads to greater awareness and deescalation in general. That’s in addition to reporting, which does a more immediate job, to be sure.

At any rate, they are out in force and will likely be for the foreseeable future. Godspeed and thanks again.

Yep,all good stuff.Cheers Seb

Finally got round to speaking to me dad in his 70s today, who stopped letting football get to him seriously a number of years ago, but he was utterly gutted that he didnt get to see us crowned champions by beating United, i think it really brought back a lot of memories from back in the day. Shame. I have to agree it was a glorious opportunity wasted.

Ok so having had a bit of stick from local non-attending rags I thought thank God I'm not a Rag, spouting about past glories. They got their day due to our mistakes. No way are they better than us. Let's get this league won asap, I bet I won't hear a peep that week as they'll all crawl back under their stone.
