United (H) Post Match Thread

I realise, it seems, that I'm in a minority, but all this 'winning the title against united' was something that never bothered me either way, in fact, I looked at the tv with a puzzled look when Neville etc were coming out with the lines "this'll really hurt their fans", it really didn't with me.

Two days on and still totally gutted , once in a lifetime fucking chance tossed away , didn’t give a fuck about Tuesday nights game before the derby and give even less of a fuck about it now . Forty plus years of following us up and down the country and Europe and don’t think I have ever felt more pissed off in my life in relation to watching us .

I’m just gonna say it and people can come for me if they want but I worry about this team. The vast majority are young and/or haven’t won serious silverware yet and i think that’s why we’re seeing these collapses, they’re not sure how to handle the pressure or get over the last hurdle, hence all these missed chances. And let’s be honest, kompany and Otamendi have always had the capacity to drop a bollock.

Pep now has to earn his money by giving them the warriors spirit. Only then will we get to where we should be.

it was earlier in the season that we were relishing the idea of having such a youthful team considering the shite the RDAHMeedya had printed and broadcast about 'the oldest team in the PL'. An unfortunate mix, but a deliciously promising one, is youth and artistry. We are where we are because of the creativity produced on the pitch, the number of chances created, the chances taken and the football doing the talking. There are games where the old cliché is to grind out a result. Youth and artistry are not in the market for grinding out results. Teams realise that no matter what we have achieved in a game, no matter what the score or how well we are playing, we can be 'got at' if the score, despite the chances created and clear evidence they have been played off the pitch, is within sniffing distance! More often than not it is our 'gifts' rather than the opposition's endeavours that contribute to a reverse. I saw a re-run of Smallthing's goal - head nearer the goal line when the ball was kicked, incidentally - but the lino on 323 side was dozing, as was his demeanour most of the game - but it looked like every City player was playing 'Statues'. Ederson must have thought in that second half he was the target on a funfair.

It's clear from what every player says that the squad have tremendous spirit and will work and run for each other, but we need a handful who are not gonna be 'nice' if something on the pitch has to be said!

A lot of people keep saying it's a once in a lifetime opportunity...but in 2018 we've had the derby on match day 32, 2017 match day 33, 2016 match day 31, 2015 match day 32, 2013 matchday 31...

As long as they keep scheduling the second derby of the season in the last few games of the season, these situations will keep arising from time to time. It's not once in a lifetime at all.

Agree with almost everything there. Pep ballsed it up big time. Oh for a Joe Mercer in charge on saturday. He would have known what it meant to us.

Big Mal would have spent the fifteen minutes telling them under no circumstances do the Stretford sewer Rags get anywhere near a sniff! And the instructions would have been adhered to. The players knew they couldn't have come off at the end had they not finished the job. But there again, we probably would have had a referee who had more than a passing acquaintance with the Laws of the Game and was determined to apply them fairly.

Exactly the same. After all the shit and disappointment I've travelled to and sat through, the ups and Mariana Trenxh lows; this one has hit hard and unlike the others which disappear after a day - It's lingering and hitting harder.
