United (H) Post Match Thread

What's pissing me off is United were absolutely wank. Even in the second when we were 3-2 down we should have comfortably won it as we were utterly dominant. Despite scoring so many goals we're still incredibly profligate infront of goal and defensively we crumble.

There's definitely a question mark about leadership. Nobody took responsibility when Pogba scored his first. Nobody identified the space in midfield.

Big Mal would have spent the fifteen minutes telling them under no circumstances do the Stretford sewer Rags get a sniff

Mind you, he also said we'd scare Europe to death and promptly got knocked out in the first round by Fenebahce.

That was the game, aged 9, I learned never to take anything for granted with City. Some of our younger fans would do well to heed the lesson.

Hmm - our attackers are surely sitting uncomfortably after seeing this quote from Pep:

"Real Madrid and Barcelona are always successful because they have players up front who, when they have half-chances, score two goals.”

It’s odd I know, given the season we’re having, full of amazing team performances and some wonderful indivisual displays, but it’s these types of results (v. Liverpool and v. United) that removes the mask a little and shows that we’re still a good bit away from being a dependable, consistent and dominant side.

A dominant display on Tuesday is most definitely required to put some of the gloss back on.

You know you are spot on. I could see Otamendi and Kompany bothered by the atmosphere when having simple defensive duties to contend with. Must have been going through their minds right at that time.

And of course the bit before that, where Utd got hold of the ball & passed it around, with City not getting on top of them, unlike anything we saw in the entirity of the first half, had nothing to do with it.

And then did it again...

This idea that we're the best PL team of all time has been over egged by the media and pundits. We're a great team, but have definitely shown signs of mental weakness at times.

That said, these last two results have had a remarkable set of decisions go against us. Could have been a very different feeling this morning.

A lot of people keep saying it's a once in a lifetime opportunity...but in 2018 we've had the derby on match day 32, 2017 match day 33, 2016 match day 31, 2015 match day 32, 2013 matchday 31...

As long as they keep scheduling the second derby of the season in the last few games of the season, these situations will keep arising from time to time. It's not once in a lifetime at all.

When you look at his reasoning behind it, with examples from Utd's title years of how the title is often won away from home or when another team is playing, it probably is pretty unlikely that it will coinicide with the exact day that we play Utd tbf.

I was thinking about this on the way into work. Barca has Villa and Messi, Bayern had Lewondowski and Muller. The only one we have in that class is Aguero

Teams would kill for the chances we get but we miss so many. Those two from Sterling that went over the bar were unbelievable for this level of football.

To the Neymar thread..............

Agree with you to some degree Remains.

However, I can’t see past the fact that it certainly wasn’t all down to officials’ decisions that we conceded 6 (very poor) goals over 2 games, and that’s what’s disappointing.

There were alot of indivdual errors (defensively and offensively) that one should have been resonably safe to assume had been eradicated from our team.

I know individual mistakes happen - that’s just humanity - but to witness many glaring ones over 2 games was quite something.

I'd say Pep is crying out for a Lewandowski or a Muller right now.
