Italy saw Calciopoli for less than that

New Year games 2012... City plays on 1.1 at Sunderland and then 3.1 with Liverpool. United plays on 31.12 and 4.1

End of November 2011. - City plays Premier League game at Anfield on 27.11 and then League Cup one at Emirates on 29.11
- United play famous Newcastle one at home on 26. 11 and League Cup one against Crystal Palace at home on 30th.

This week - City play Wednesday night 3.10 game vs German Champions and gets awarded with 12:45 Saturday 6.10 Premier League game.
- United played Tuesday 2.10 night CL game against mighty Cluj and gets 7.10 Sunday 16:00 Premier League game.

Don't forget to add that Newcastle played on Thursday night as well !
Isn't that the main reason the Newcastle/Utd game is on the Sunday?

The point I was making is again the fixtures favour the rags.

We played Wed & again at dinner time on Sat.
They played Tues & Sunday afternoon Vs a team that played Thursday!

We've got 2.5 days rest.
Newcastle have 2.5 days rest.
Rags have 4.5 days rest.

Although Utd did have to travel back from Romania then travel up to Newcastle whereas City were home for both games.....not just saying this cos I'm a Utd fan but I genuinely do think it's fairly even over the course of a season..

City traveled to Liverpool than to London last year inside 50 hours while United had two home games against Newcastle and Crystal Palace inside 4 days.

It's not Romania but hey - planes nowadays have a habit to make Romania trip as short as London train one :)

I wouldn't mind if it happened once, this one particularly could be easier to understand - you played in Romania, Newcastle played on Thursday... but when it happens three times in 10 months then it sucks.

Newcastle don't have anything with City playing the earliest game. Arsenal playing the late game tomorrow and they also played on Tuesday.

Move the Newcastle one on Monday if you can't do it on other way

There's absolutely no excuse to make City play lunchtime Saturday one.

As for favourable runs of fixtures, Utd are away to Chelsea in the league on Sunday 28th October, again 3 days later in the league cup before facing Arsenal at home in the league on November 3rd. 4 days later they're away to Braga in the CL before playing Villa in the league on November 10 - that's 5 games in 14 days. City play Swansea in the league on October 27th, West Ham a week later then Ajax at home in the CL before facing Spurs in the league 5 days later. That's 4 games in 16 days, forgetting Utd's league cup game they're still scheduled to play Chelsea away and Arsenal at home in the space of a week whilst City have Swansea at home then West Ham away 8 days later. Utd also have an away match in the league 3 days after their away CL tie at Braga whilst City have a home CL tie to Ajax followed by a home match in the league 5 days later.

City's lack of League Cup game is only thing that makes difference there.

When you play in Cups and CL it's normal that you'll play each 3 days but the problem is that City have been forced to play 2 games in barely more than 48 hours in 3 different situations in 10 months.

United not even once.

It's not normal to play 2 games with so little time for recovering. It basically means you have to replace full team if you don't want your players to burn or get injured.
Firstly, if Sky believe they'll get bigger viewing figures for a match at 4 o'clock Sunday, they're not gonna move it unless the police force them too. A Utd team that people either love or hate, and has looked very shakey lately, travelling to face a dangerous looking Newcastle side at St James park should pull in a pretty decent audience for them in their peak Sunday slot...

With regards to City playing Sunderland at 12:45, I agree it's not helpful for them at all but after your matches with them last season I can see why Sky want to show the game. Are clubs allowed to say no to a televised game - for instance couldn't Sunderland object so that their fans don't have to travel at daft o'clock?

Your league cup game against Villa should have been played on the Wednesday. We've played home games on the same night enough times in the past. If the police put their foot down then it was always unlikely Utd's game would be moved once Sky picked it to be televised.

I do also think fixtures tend to balance out for instance, in the 8 fixtures following the international break City have a 4 day preparation for a CL game twice compared to Utd's once. They also have a run of games where a CL home match is followed by a home keague match, which I imagine should help preparation - Ajax, Spurs, Villa & Madrid between November 6th and 21st. Utd have Braga, Villa, Norwich & Galatasary away in the same period. Now I tend not to consider how fixtures fall too much - they come as they come - and it doesn't bother me in the least at having consecutive away league games after away CL games (like this weekend as well) but I'm sure some Utd fans will see a conspiracy in it. I'm just using those 8 games to try and point out how different perceptions can be.

they shouldn't, it's exactly what City had last year and PL fixtures are being made much before CL draw.

You guys are masters of relativization.
That's my point tho isn't it - fixtures fall as they fall, no manipulation.

And I have absolutely no idea what relativization means :-)

That was his whole point...

Playing devil's advocate, the CL fixture dates are known before the PL fixtures are drawn up.
