Not that it matters but their share price is now down quite a bit ($13.30)
Still being supported at $14 according to the numbers I'm looking at.

Thanks. Seems like the underwriters have withdrawn their support. Could get interesting now.

and how would the payments go?

is it in one arrow or so many millions per year over his four or five year contract?

All good points but you are making some assumptions.

1. RVP will be in completely different surroundings, playing with different players in a different system - he may well struggle to perform (his performances for Holland haven't exactly set the world alight)
2. Rooney may react differently to the way you assume. He may get pissed off if he deems RVP is getting all the intention and sulk like the manchild he is.

It will be fascinating to watch how this all works out particularly as I think SAF is more motivator than tactician and he has to find a way to get the best out of a Rooney/RVP partnership.

I think that, given both players are used to being the focal point, that there could well be some problems for SAF getting it to work and given that I think it will take around 90 points to win the league again this year Utd haven't got the luxury of having a few poor results while they work it out.

As a City fan I am completely comfortable with the season ahead - bring it on !

Great points, but I think;

1. He'll be playing in a better team, which thrives on wing play and providing for our strikers. At Arsenal, he was forced to play deep a lot of the time, whereas at United I assume he'll be the spearhead of our attack. He'll get the service, of that I have no doubt.

2. Rooney was in Ronaldo's shadow for many years, but didn't throw a hissy fit about that. He realised that if he knuckled down and did his job for the good of the team, it'd all work out. Hopefully he does the same this time.

At least it makes it more exciting. I'd have preferred getting a quality midfielder in, but seeing as our manager clearly thinks our midfield is superb, then this is one of the next best things.

Your second point isn't valid because Rooney joined after Ronaldo and they grew into the team together.
One thing I am glad about in this transfer is the lateness of it, hopefully many football folk will be saying RVP has missed a pre-season with United and will be better next year, time I'm glad to say is something which United haven't got.
