It has been noticeable - I remember one incident where the crowd laughed when the official attendance was announced over the PA. I wasn't at the match myself - but I'm sure someone can confirm it.

I doubt people would find it so amusing if United didn't have an entire song about City's empty seats (for the exact same reason - people no-showing and not filling sold seats) when they have even more. United fans actually think we don't sell those empty seats and that we only ever sell out against them... deluded is the word I believe.
