So nobody wants Rooney, and the Rag spin doctors turn it round into a positive Rooney will remain at the Swamp headline. If he were to leave then the new club would have to match his current ludicrous pay, and it looks like nobody is willing to take the gamble.

Wayne Rooney: Manchester United want to keep forward - Gill

Outgoing Manchester United chief executive David Gill is "confident" Wayne Rooney will still be at the club next season.

Rooney, 27, asked to leave Old Trafford earlier this month after a turbulent season with the English champions.

Gill believes "every bit of work" is being done to speak to the player and his representatives.

He was speaking at Uefa's Congress in London after being elected to the confederation's executive committee.

The future of Rooney has been under scrutiny since the striker was omitted from Manchester United's starting line-up for their Champions League tie against Real Madrid on 5 March.

It was revealed by Sir Alex Ferguson that Rooney had asked to leave the club for a second time, although United insist he is not for sale.

Although Rooney did not figure against Swansea in Ferguson's final home match, he did join his team-mates in the Premier League title celebrations afterwards when United were presented with the trophy, receiving a mixed reception from supporters.

It is believed the arrival of David Moyes could change Rooney's mind.

Moyes, who has signed a six-year contract with United, handed Rooney his Premier League debut at Everton as a 16-year-old in August 2002.

Uncle Malc's at it again.

Refinancing United's debt.

Is the MUEN coorect. Has the debt gone up again to £370mil from the £355-£360mill figure?

On a serious note. It's a piss take isn't it. United have still got £370mill to clear, they've paid out of £750mill in interest charges, God knows how much the Glazer's have taken out of football, and all UEFA are arsed about ia FFPR, along with City, PSG, and other clubs.

Note the positive spin put on it by the MUEN.

Manchester United have cut their interest bill by £10m a year after a major refinancing through Bank of America.

United have refinanced £177.78m of outstanding sterling bonds, on which they are currently paying a rate of 8.75 per cent.

In addition they have refinanced approximately £17m of dollar bonds on which they are currently paying 8.375 per cent.

Through the new loan with Bank of America, club sources estimate they will save approximately £10m per year.

United's present debt is £370million, the sum remaining from a highly leveraged takeover by the Glazer family in 2005.

Despite dire warnings of United's financial position since that time, the Old Trafford outfit have won five Premier League titles and played in three Champions League finals.

With their commercial income rising rapidly, it now seems that United are able to compete in the transfer market, hence the £24m arrival of Robin van Persie last summer.

It is also thought new manager David Moyes will have funds to spend should he wish this summer.

Isn't their actual debt somewhere north of £550m, didn't they have a crapload of other loans which seem to be never mentioned any more?

Annoyingly it does seem something that, without the help of Ferguson, should have sunk or at the very least highly damaged the club will now float on by as the revenues far outstrip the relative risk of holding all that debt. Even if the Glazers are merrily taking their hefty share every year there's still no way they'll fall out of the top 4. Shame. Would have been nice to see them selling off the stadium roof to Jim Davidsons to pay for Rooney's next wage packet.

Ta ra Mike you boring twat.

It means the swivel eyed loon will be doing his own media work once the pisscan has approved it.

No use if he hasn't sacked Meulensteen, he's been the power behind the throne for a good few yrs now.
