Huge win today, both sides had chances to take it, but we managed to edge it. Rooney will get the plaudits but for me one of the best things about today was Jones, Smalling and Evans. Really impressed with them. Arsenal players almost looked frozen stiff. Can't think of anyone who had a bad game for us, Cleverley did well I thought when he came on too. I guess if i'm being harsh Valencia could have found a red shirt more often from wide but he was decent enough. Nothing special mind. Kagawa looked mildy improved, and Carrick was his usual consistent self. Just a bit pissed off about the internationals now. Fucking things.
I like you as a poster and all. But this win had nothing 0 to do with united.. They played by parking the bus and scored a stokish goal people are starting to see what ive been saying all along about them being stoke football club with better polished turds leading the line. Lets take this into perspective. The 2nd best defensive combo in the league behind Southampton(crazy but true) there best defender getting sick on the day of the game(best inform ch this season IMO). rositsky has been playing like a mad man possessed just decides to get sick aswell.
Ozil having an off day, carzola having a mare, Zanadine Ramsey messi could not string 3 passes together, girou not holding the ball for the life of him and unable to do any link up plays (which he was doing everygame this season). Sorry the gods(SKY/FA) collaborated on this game and stack the cards on your side.. Good win yes but it had nothing to do with you at all. Still shit midtable fodder and will remain so when u have the likes of zanadine clev, duncan jones, and side show bob. in your side.
Like I said, Arsenal weren't themselves. They had a couple of near misses but I thought we created the more clear cut chances, namely the one Rooney scuffed wide and the Smalling header he should have buried from 4 yards out. The goal was from a set piece, but you have to target a teams weakness. We defended really well and scored at the other end. It wasn't a pretty win by any means. Fellaini for Van Persie late on tells you the intentions of the manager from 80 minutes onwards, but that's often the way with the big sides playing eachother. Wars of attrition for the most part, and I think we did our job well at both ends. To say it had 0 to do with us after so many of our players played out of their skin is a little unfair imo. Did Arsenal have an off day or did we just keep them quieter than usual? A bit of both I think.
EDIT: Oh, and i'm not at all saying we're back in the race, we're now certs for the league or any other bollocks you might hear from over-confident Utd fans you know. Just that it was a game we needed to win, and we did. Huge result.
