Put yourself in CFC's shoes

They might just sell him. This season Utd aren't going to catch CFC, and in the Summer Utd are going to get a midfielder. They might as well sell Mata to Utd now, pocket the money, and buy a forward now or in the Summer. Their financial results weren't that good so a big fee for mata would enable them to go back into the transfer market.

That's all well and good, but where are the rags going to get £35 million from?
They could pay double that if they wanted.

They could.

But do you really think the Glazers are going to give gollum that sort of money?

He's already wasted £27 million on A&E; I can't really see them forking out another huge sum on one player.

How many more major signings are the RAGs going to leak? Not one has got anywhere near to signing.

It's propaganda simply to create the illusion their in for big players.

Maureen has always been very sycophantic to United, especially when Baconface was in charge. Allowing Mata to go there would aid their rebuilding process, which doesn't help Chelsea in the long term and would be stupid. Make United take a gamble on an expensive foreigner who at least had a chance of not settling well. Mata is proven and would improve United.

Yes I do, because Mata would give them a slim chance of top 4 this season when it's next to none now, and they are going to have to spend big on a midfielder in the Summer anyway. If they bought mata, their stock price would rally - not that that matters that much

Nah, would be like when we had Kinkladze.

Nobody else in the side to compliment him. (I mean when wooney and the rapist leave at the end of the season.)

Hmm. Chelsea don't want him; profit to be made at this alleged price; he'll be cup-tied in the CL (won't he?) on the off-off-off-off chance they'd meet up; Mata could help Utd hurt us and others; Utd need a creative mid (or, frankly ANY mid) badly; Utd aren't a rival nor threat to CFC this year nor maybe for a few more.

I can see how the rumour mill spat this one out.

Still don't believe it.

So Chelsea bought him for £23m, he's been sat on the bench all season and now he's worth £37m. Can someone explain that to me?
Because he is an incredible player. World class without a doubt. No way should anyone want him to go to United. There is a reason he has won Chelsea player of the year twice in a row and is probably their most popular player. Something crazy like 50 goals and assist last year. He just does not fit into the system and Oscar has more potential. Would be an unbelievably stupid for Chelsea to ever sell him to United. Hopefully they are just stringing United on and then sell him abroad in the summer.

Absolutely. It completely perplexes me why he isn't playing, amazing player. Would love him at city.
Mourinho has given the reasons himself and I think he is correct.
In short

-shoot out for no 10 position between Mata and Oscar
-Mata better player overall and better offensively
-Oscar MUCH better defensively and arguably has more potential overall
-Chelsea want their front 4 to be good defensively to win games
-Chelsea want their front 4 to be fast to be better on the counter
-Conclusion Mata is on the bench.

Exactly. Even if it means taking a 10 million pound loss would be better to sell him to France or Spain or maybe even Germany.

In a word, hilarious, will that do ? (If its true obviously)

I'm afraid they need a lot more than Mata, unless he can play centre half as well, oh and right back while he's at it.

All at the same time?
