Rags only took 6 points out of a possible 36 from the top six last season. The ugly one only has to improve on that and they are in with a good shout.
They should get an extra 3 points from both scouse clubs and Spuds, lose 1 from Arse and perhaps gain a point from both Chelsea and ourselves.

he might be a good manager but he hasnt got a magic wand to turn their shit defence into a good one.
Neither have Liverpool, but they compensated with a decent attack - new signings will address both of these areas to a certain extent.
Alternatively the ugly one could have the same impact as Big Malc the 2nd time he coached City.

To put this debate into further context...

Mourinho, the 'serial winner' backed with funds for Schurle, Matic, Salah, Eto'o, Willian, could not win the league.

That's despite Chelsea having a vastly superior squad to the present United one which also included, Hazard, Oscar, Cahill, Ivanovic, Ramires, Cech, Terry, Azpilicueta, Cole, Ba, Luiz.

That's the true size of the task facing Butthead this season when it comes to a supposed title challenge.

And we have not even mentioned the current champions, who put seven past them last season, took six points, finished 22 points ahead of them and have only strengthened further in the current window.

Just saying...

Good post;
my idiotic, armchair supporting, nitwit of a Rag house mate claimed
last night that Utd will finish ahead of us because Van Gaal is a better manager than
Pellegrini.

Oh how I laughed.

The problem is he just needs to convince the rest of the league that he's a magician and they'll all start rolling over again when they play them

Other teams rolling over for them will inevitably happen because after all LVG is a tactical genius and won't be allowed to fail. I am assuming that will be their new banner in the swamp instead of the chosen one, replace with tactical genius.

LVG will play negative defensive football and hit teams on the break

Nothing new for utd there then, this is more or less how they've played for the last 20 odd years despite their rag media reputation for ''swashbuckling'' all out attack style of football
