It's hard to go all out attack if you're constantly having to cover a shit defence though. So far, he's been playing 3-5-2, which is what he did with the Dutch because their defenders weren't good enough. But they can't play that formation and fit Di Maria into the team, unless he's actually gonna use him as a wing back. 4-4-2 puts Mata out of position. 4-3-3 puts Rooney out of position. 4-2-3-1 puts Rooney or Mata out of position. Ironically, I think the only way they can fit them all in the team is to copy our system of 4-2-2-2 with Mata and Di Maria being given licence to roam. But it could be a disaster with their lightweight midfield covering a shit defence.TonyM said:I actually think this is a great signing for united.
