An FA cup win for The turtle will prob save his job. I want him to get the 3-5-2 system deeply engrained in the club for a couple of years because when the next man comes in its highly unlikely he will play that system. Hardly anyone does. So then they have another period of trying to go back to another system.

wishful thinking i'm afraid, even though if they do go through they will draw the lowest placed side. sooner or later they have to play a decent side. webb has retired and i can't see clattencheat getting a cup final any time soon.

But will they? The top 3 plus Spurs all went out yesterday and Liverpool drew at home with Bolton. With so many sides that are fully capable of the rags falling by the wayside to lower placed teams the rags could go all the way by default. The last time this type of scenario was played out was in 2008 when 3 Championship sides got to the semis and Portsmouth ended up winning the cup. Barnsley put out Liverpool and Chelsea on the way to the semi.

Could this be the weekend that sealed the rags demise?
Lose lose - they have an easy road to a cup now and not winning will spark dismissal of turtle and more destruction of the myth of the poonited way.
If they do win it sparks the scenario you outlined above where he stays for a couple more years and bets the house to try to make it work.

Might this increase the chances of him 'disappearing?'

I suppose Gill feels Blatter is too pro-City!
