Do you honestly think Ferguson wouldn't have gone on a spending spree if he'd been given the green light by the Glazers? I'm not saying his recruitment policy wasn't short-termist towards the end, but that was because the years of underinvestment in the squad by the owners meant it was the only way Taggart could fuel his ego and get the title back in 2013.His (bacon face's) legacy in terms of the team he left and having a hand in the appointment of Moyes was undoubtedly a disaster.
The scholes out of retiremnt move was a clear statement that they had nothing in midfield yet he failed to even try and replace him before and after he retired. They are still suffering with Carrick and Mop head being influential players when they should really be squad players at best (given age and ability respectively).
Their season next year hangs on the form of a small number of players and the transfers they make.
If they get ADM back on form they have a match winner, they also need to settle on a back 4. They need a goal scorer. They need a central midfielder.
If they sort those issue out they could compete at the top but they seem to ignore the obvious year after year.

The pertinent question that arises out of this, which has never been asked in the lickspittle press, of course, is why a man who was never afraid to stand up to his employers previously, who was well known for taking no shit and acting like a petulant child if he didn't get what he wanted, was so compliant, so effete, with his last employers at the club.
The answer may lay with information in their possession which somehow brought him obediently to heel.
You may think that, I couldn't possibly comment ;-)Provided by the 2 gentlemen from Ireland with 99 question perhaps ?

I hope the truth comes out while the pisscan is still alive.
This seems to be what the media are missing out on when they go on about the scum playing hardball over Flappy. They have 2 choices. Accept what Madrid are offering now or lose him on a free in 12 months. There's even the possibility that he could choose to buy out his contract for £5m and go this summer, although it's less likely.
No rules preventing it, just clubs too hesitant to give players more power than they already have.I've been thinking about this option for a number of players and wondering why it is used so infrequently where players want to leave. Why couldn't the buying club (informally) agree to reimburse the player who buys out his remaining contract, thereby paying just a small amount instead of a full transfer fee? Are there some rules preventing this?
