Been out with a Utd supporting mate tonight and I've been ribbing him all night. Of course he had no answers because he can see how crap they are.
But then i felt just a little sorry for him and had to offer him a word of consolation ...............

Not anymore. The TV rights are sorted from 2016 to 2019 so the PL could do without them for a couple of years.
The Championship on the other hand could really do with the rags to generate interest.
Sorry not a chance. They have a significant global reach and carry the Premier League brand/product out to circa 700 million followers plus associated TV/box office. No organisation can simply just "do without" that. Bunch of twats all the same, but with a major commercial influence who's ongoing viability benefits all stakeholders, including ourselves.
