It worked when he played behind the striker as he could drift onto the full back positions causing both zabaleta and Clichy problems. As the actually main man up front I think you lose a bit of the panic effect he causes as he's nearest to the goal. Centre halves no where they are if he's the man up front but someone who's starting from a midfield position and drifting round the box causes uncertainty as to who's tracking the run and who's gonna counteract his height.
Must be slightly disheartening for the likes of Hernandez and Wilson when the gaffer is looking to a midfielder to sort the striker problems out. Yaya has got one heck of a shot on him but I wouldn't be happy if pellegrini suddenly decided to shove him upfront.
