I have a theory that Ed Woodward realised sometime last season that Van Gaal is clinically insane, but he's too scared to tell anyone.

Bayern in particular as they can't get Leverkusen, would be delighted to get United in the groups. they're comfortably the weakest of the pot 2 sides.

Over on the KDB thread on redcafe i've just seen one of them genuinely come out with the old line "If the sheik packed up and left tomorrow we'd be fucked". How can people still be so clueless after all these years? No debt, the fastest rising turnover in world football and already the 6th highest in the world. Yeah, we'd be screwed.
