From our point of view, LVG is the perfect manager for the rags to have. All I can see him doing is spunking loads of cash on mediocre players and playing mediocre football, unable to elevate them above their current level, yet not quite being shit enough to 'do a Moyes' and get himself sacked. The rag fans will be quite content to be stuck in a perpetual battle for 4th place because they believe that the next raft of big-money signings will be all they need to regain former glories, not realising they're stuck in a footballing purgatory.
Plus he comes across as a fucking idiot we can all have a good laugh at.
Long may it last.
They'll never get a replacement for Ferguson. Whatever City fans think of him, there's no denying he brought them so much success. They are extremely unlikely to find a match for him. LvG's just in the same mould as most other big name managers. They move from big club to big club, sign big players, spend big money and get moved one after one too many mediocre seasons.
LvG's 'better' (for City fans) than Moyes in as much as Moyes nosedived completely and got found way too soon. LvG's managing to make their decline more subtle, whilst still giving them hope that they can get back to the glory days. That'll do more damage in the long run, much like Liverpool slowly slipped away due to thinking each poor season was a one off, despite it happening time and time again.
He's already becoming a reason that some players don't want to join them, and already spent a fortune. Long may it continue.
