I'm no fan of Charlie Austin, but he outscored some pretty decent players last season, playing for a piss poor relegation fodder QPR side. He's already scored 4 this season for them in the Championship. I'm surprised that the likes of West Ham and Sunderland aren't trying to snap him up. He's only got a year left on his contract. If we signed him, I'd only be happy as a replacement for Hernandez who looks likely to be on his way.
What you'll often find with more limited strikers is that they can score a lot of goals in a team that's set up to get the best out of them, but when they make that step up to a team that isn't (because they're set up to get the best out of more talented players) they don't score so many. That's how I imagine it'll go with Austin if he goes there. The one thing I remember from when we played QPR last season was just how often he was caught offside.

I loved the post about LvG being a genius, even if he wins nothing. It was supported by a picture of the Swansea game and every outfield player within 20 metres of each other. The point was that there was no room on the pitch, both teams closing down and that this was why it was difficult. Only problem was, and another poster over there pointed it out, the picture was from a goal kick! What a fucking tool, trying to make a point about pressing football, and posting a picture of a fucking goal kick, where you'd get the same outcome from most leagues in the world....!

Apparently they have a world class midfield, two world class full backs and decent centre halves just need someone up front and they will be amazing, wide players will supply a striker loads of crosses cos at the moment there is no one up front so that's why Depay is just cutting inside trying to shoot.

Seriously I stood in awe at his knowledge of the game, and not spent anything like us lot. A rag customer of mine just left me speechless.

I amazed how highly some of their fans rate their midfield. Herrera is decent although not sure he offers enough... he fails to hold down a regular place and gets nowhere near the Spanish national team.
Two players who are well past their best and one steady player who has been playing for Southampton the last 6 years. Average.

And as for calling them Rags, I expected better of you mate. Have some respect - as someone on the Caf pointed out, one of those "Rags" could well be a doctor treating one of your relatives ;)
Funnily enough my brother and his wife are both doctors and I frequently call them rags (as they are). Doesn't seem to bother them too much, but then they do actually go to games. Maybe it's different for doctors that don't.

I'm making a promise here & now.

I'm 49 and if I make it to 83 and the rags haven't won a PL title, I'm buying EVERY city supporter at the home derby that year a t-shirt with that f'in clock on it.

Ric ... Stick this in the archives !

I am 45, if you dont make it and I do, I'll do it for you
