They are the gift that keep on giving at the moment...This is the second time this has happened in 2 seasons (Coentrao) and it shows why deadline day transfers are completed poorly run businesses, but even saying that all other clubs seem to cope

But what now for De Gea is a great question...Will United fans cheer him on or not (my money would say they would fickle bunch, despite all the Tevez remark, or no-one bigger then the club, however one mistake and it will all change).

How does the manager feel about having him back (LVG cannot be happy), the players (back when they where successful, players such as Keane etc. would not welcome him back).

Pundits have a massive influence and they can never help themselves, goal goes in he stands no chance of saving and comments such as he would have saved that last season would come out and the dumb red public will believe it.

What of De Gea himself, where does he feel the blame is and how motivated will he be.

What for the future, does he see out his contract, January transfer, sign a new contract with a release clause.

What of Real and Mendes relationship with Man U if they are to blame (of which I think there is a good chance).

As with Mancini, you can get away with being a complete dick if you're winning things. But he's won nothing with them yet after spending a lot of money so he isn't going to get away with it for too long. But as I've said before, you're looking at it from a fan's point of view, where winning things is the ultimate objective. The Glazers won't be bothered so much about winning things as long as the money keeps rolling in. In fact they'd prefer to spend as little as possible so 3rd or 4th will suit them fine.

I agree, that's what I was trying to get at with the change of philosophy from a "fourth will do" one to a "lets win the league" one. The amount of money you need to spend in order to jump from 3rd/4th to being a title winner is huge. The financial rewards are not sufficiently higher than 3rd/4th to make the outlay a sound business one, if your only real aim is to maximise the profitability of the business. The Glazers would be happy with a continued return of 3rd/4th place, and the associated Champion's League/Premier League money without the need to invest on quite such a monumental scale.

Real Madrid have released a detailed timeline of yesterday's events.

So It seems the the rags contacted them about the transfer (not the other way round) in the morning. Then they took 8 hours to review the contract before making comments that clearly weren't material to the negotiation.
That is precisely what struck me. I would like to see the before and after to determine the scope and depth of Anchester United's "minor [and immaterial] modifications", and whether Anchester United's "minor modifications" were substantive or procedural.
