You say you "can do better" than what he asked but outside of Pirlo offered nobody that would fall under the required criteria.
You want some more?

I wouldn't say Alonso was world class now, but still a decent player and though I am not his biggest fan he starts for Bayern than went to the CL semis and won the league.
Then there is Pique, who went to United to Barca.
Motta is another player.
Cannavaro too.

It usually happens when a player is older, is a club legend and has injury concerns.

Again, you've just gone against it by saying you wouldn't have classed Alonso as world class when he joined Bayern so why include him at all?

You're also mistaking his point. Players may go on to be world class after having been sold, but he's referring to current world class level players being sold so once more Pique is a no no.

You can look at my post history and see that I have always been a huge Schweinsteiger fan and always put him behind only Xavi and Iniesta in this generation of midfielders. I watch most Bayern matches, I watch a lot of Germany and can see why he did not fit into Guardioal's system. However, at the same time I don't see why people are writing him off. He dominated the world cup just last year. He will probably dominate the Euros this summer. It seems more wishful thinking hoping he is not going to be great than any actual evidence.

I have seen enough of him to see that his passing, movement, organising and tackling are still great. The question is whether his fitness can hold up.

Even the guy who is right 99/100 times is wrong once and I would take being the guy that is right 60/100. If I wrong then I deserve the ridicule.
I agree with you schweinsteiger is a fantastic player, but it will be all about how the rags manage him,as there is no way he will play every game this season, his age and fitness will dictate, but the rags are already over reliant on him....

I can do better. Pirlo was let go for free and look what he did in the subsequent years winning several Serie A titles, and making the finals of the CL and European Championship. Cech was let go for around 10 million and is still an unbelievable goalkeeper.

You let Tevez go and for fairly cheap and I thought he was finished, but he showed he still had it.

Even the best clubs make mistakes, but this is more a case of Bayern doing a favour to a club legend.

Even Lampard not quite at the same level did a decent job for you last season.
BIG THREE CLUB I said.

For the hard of thinking, Munich, Madrid, Barca

Thanks.

They could take more risks if they wanted, but it is a deliberate tactic. Do you really think Schweinsteiger and Carrick lack creativity? I hate the tactic and I don't believe it works, but just because they are choosing to play a certain way does not mean they can't play a different way under a different manager.

By the way when I say midfield I mean just the central midfield, which would be Schweinsteiger, Scneiderlin, Carrick and Herrera. The likes of Silva, Ozil etc would not be included.

They played Swansea and dominated the midfield and created more chances than Swansea. Rooney having a shocking game and Gomis being better is why they lost.

We will see what the season brings.

So youd take eyeofthetiger, snidelikedustybin, canyoubelieveitsnotscholes(yes I can) & Herrera over yaya, fernandinho, delph, fernado...... Oki doke...

You have a tendency for this type of post, respect your point of view though, it's deluded, but respect all the same....

Hope yesterday didn't hurt to much!!!

Think you've hit the nail Zin.

The hurt from yesterday is surfacing via posting shite.

To be fair to Martial, he did score a cracking goal in United's biggest game of the season on the back of a ridiculous transfer fee. Lets give credit where its due.

He will offer them something different but he will come up against a lot more sterner defences through the season. In a way, he was lucky playing against an absolute woeful Liverpool side who have a shite players all over the pitch and were playing with no game plan.

I still think they are nowhere near our level and have been very lucky at times this season. However there are a few positives for them.

Shaw and Smalling are turning into top class players and they have managed to keep De Gea for a while longer.
This. Liverpool really were shocking in most aspects, most notably their utter inability on so many occasions to make fairly simple passes which usually ended up ceding possession in a dangerous area or killing off any move which began to show promise.
united did up their game second half, but not much - they were basically gifted the initiative by an almost complete lack of competent threat from the opposition.

Fair play to whatsisname, rode his luck on the bobble and took his chance well - something I would expect from any Prem striker finding himself in the same position. But didn't see anything that say a jizzyjazz wouldn't have done, so from that point of view, well done, they've spent a potential 58mill on replacing something they already had with more of the same.
I also noted that before he got his chance he was pretty anonymous and by his expression and the way he was holding himself it almost suggested that even he didn't truly believe that he belonged there.

The rags with me on this weekend's stag do have of course launched into the usual 'worth every penny'/'Henry-like' rhetoric with relish while I have smugly and somewhat condescendingly congratulated them on such an astute investment finally being proven beyond all doubt as fact.

Confidence can really change players' outlooks and only time will tell, but over the years I've seen enough one hit debut wonders from both them and us to recognise the signs of a headlong rush to invest hope in the next messiah that desperate people often resort to, and it gives me a warm feeling inside. :)

You are talking absolute bollocks. Swansea had so many more chances in that game than united and their chances were far better too.
