Odds on the Martial goal being in the goal of the season shortlist?
Exactly mate. Anything they can do we can do better...Bound to be. Predictably everywhere today in the media. Ah well, our 18 year old scored a last minute winner and cost about £58m less than their 18 year old!!
It's already won it, he has the pennant on his wallOdds on the Martial goal being in the goal of the season shortlist?
And it is stuck to the wall with a big splash of Martin fucking Tyler's jism. It's already won it, he has the pennant on his wall
United have the best midfield in the league and means teams just don't attack them enough. Still can't understand why Schweinsteiger was being written off. The only question should have been how many games he plays. They have dominated midfield in every game they have played and had more chances in every game. Their lack of fire power will cost them and it's why I don't think they will mount a serious challenge, but they should come 2nd.
Martial is quick and scored a decent goal but unless people were watching a lot of Monaco can't judge any more than that.
Depay has been really poor, Darmian looks great and Smalling has improved a lot.
They could take more risks if they wanted, but it is a deliberate tactic. Do you really think Schweinsteiger and Carrick lack creativity? I hate the tactic and I don't believe it works, but just because they are choosing to play a certain way does not mean they can't play a different way under a different manager. The best midfield in the league, it doesn't matter how many times you repeat it, it still isn't true
They might have a lot of the ball but that is because they take no risks and pass for the sake of passing
I'd take Swansea's midfield over theirs - Utd's midfield has no goals in it, no pace and no creativity
I really can't see where you are coming from

Having idle possession without looking like threatening isn't dominating the midfield.United have the best midfield in the league and means teams just don't attack them enough. By the way when I say midfield I mean just the central midfield, which would be Schweinsteiger, Scneiderlin, Carrick and Herrera. The likes of Silva, Ozil etc would not be included.
They played Swansea and dominated the midfield and created more chances than Swansea. Rooney having a shocking game and Gomis being better is why they lost.
We will see what the season brings.
Except it wasn't as idle as people including Neville are making out. They isolated their hope 'Depay' with Clyne several times. This is where the tactic relies on a world class player. Depay as many here have said was awful and lost the ball every time. The second thing they did was completely shut Liverpool down. In the first half Liverpool did not come even close to posing a threat. I believe without a Robben/Messi/Ronaldo this will result in too many 0-0's or losses.Having idle possession without looking like threatening isn't dominating the midfield.
Schweinsteiger is not even fully fit and is already showing his class. I would pick him over any midfielder in the league and my opinion has not changed. I have always been a massive fan. He is still the German captain and the first name on the team sheet. I just don't get where the lack of respect he has is coming from. What has he done when he has played in the CL semi final or in the world cup to warrant this?Swine and Carrick V Yaya and Fernandinho, I know who I'd pick. Then there is Matic and Fabregas, I'd say Palace and Everton's midfield could give them a run for thier money

You said they've dominated every game. Yesterday was as close to domination as we've seen, which still wasn't great.Except it wasn't as idle as people including Neville are making out. A very good summary of my thoughts and well done for having the patience to articulate them to a person saying Schweinsteiger is the best midfielder in the league. Which is beyond fucking laughable.Indeed. I can't see Supercrystal's point. If we aren't including Silva, then that means we are only talking about the central 2 in the midfield 5. So, Schweinsteiger/ Scneiderlin or Carrick vs. Toure/Fernandinho. I'm struggling to see an argument for taking any of the former over the latter. Two of the former are decent, but nothing particularly dynamic, and Schneiderlin is a useful mid/ upper mid table player. I would take him over Fernando as a back up player. That's about it though. As for the rest of the midfield 5, i.e. the 2 wide players and the furthest forward playmaker, there is no comparison.
Despite the fact that Utd are playing boring, safety first football, and City play more attacking footy, it is City who have yet to concede a goal. And without looking up stats, I would guess we have conceded fewer chances.
I didn't just say Carrick and Schweinsteiger, because there are games where there lack of pace will be exposed, I included Schneiderlin in there. There is not one credible argument you, or anyone else, can put across to convince me(or anyone with eyes) that Carrick and Swinestager are he best midfielders in the league. I think it's a ridiculous thing to suggest, you may have had a case 5yrs ago

The midfield has looked void of ideas in every other game this season, and were outplayed by Swansea.
Utterly laughable. They could take more risks if they wanted, but it is a deliberate tactic. Do you really think Schweinsteiger and Carrick lack creativity?
