The advantage we have is the "prestige" element of Sheikh Mansour owning Manchester City. The Glasers have one motive, to make as much money from Manchester United as possible, the Sheikh on the other hand intends on using the reflective glory of Manchester City success to draw attention to, and investment to, Abu Dhabi as a whole. A successful Manchester City means a higher profile, which in turn means Abu Dhabi is seen in a good light, and attracts investment in the area. The Sheikh won't bankroll us for eternity, but he doesn't need to, we've already made huge leaps forward on the commercial front and, with increased prize money, and TV deals, City's profitability seems as secure as it can be for a professional football team. I don't foresee a scenario whereby ADUG start taking dividends from City and farm club generated profits into the pockets of people in the Middle East, or into other commercial ventures.
A journalist from the MEN was claiming yesterday that when City announce their next figures, City's revenues will be greater than Utd's. That would be a landmark moment.

It certainly would Marv,be interesting to see how long Sky keep running it on their loop.

He actually said that if City show the same rate of growth in revenue as we did from 2013 to 2014 then we would overtake them. Personally I don't think we will and that we'll see revenue between £360m & £370m. Still not bad.

Woodward was quoted as telling investors that the transfer spend seen at Utd was unlikely to be repeated again in coming seasons. That should worry Utd fans because despite their spending, their squad is full of holes. At this moment they don't look like a top 4 team, but the other Premiership clubs are not convincing either
The rags have been in precarious positions a few times over the years, As if by magic, money appears from somewhere, strange !

hahahahahaha am sitting here just laughing at what and how far we have come in 7 years and look over he road at the rags house of dreams and think fuck me it took them 23 years to build a so called empire hahahahaha if Manchester city can build what in my book is the best run football club in the world in 7 years what can it be in 23 years there is no boundaries of what can happen and even the youth setup in the next 15 years and will start to bare fruit on a yearly basis

how they the (media) said its a quick fix they will run a mile when they see little old city true colours and need banked rolled every season
but they forgot that little old Manchester city was more than one line in the history in the football history books we did have a history that is up there in winner silverware and in the 1960s Manchester city was top dogs and had built a fan base over them glory years and stuck with them very dark days of the 80s and 90s and the early 2000

so if Manchester united can build a so called empire then Manchester city can and will go on to match them on and of the field of play

True. Needs to be taken in context though. United were out of Europe last year so will have missed out on tens of millions in revenue that will return to them this season.

I agree. No chance of overtaking Utd's income with the Chevrolet and shirt deal. This smacks of Keegan setting up for the riposte article about how great Utd are...

I can't see City's income suddenly going up by 70M again this season.

The Chevrolet sponsorship was a transparently bent deal.

Very true. It would also be interesting to see what percentage of their commercial income comes from the United States and likewise Liverpool (Warrior deal). They always keep going on about Abu Dhabi sponsorships being fake because our owner is from there. I bet there is little difference in percentage terms. The Abu Dhabi deals are actually on the low side in pure monetary terms given the fact we are a growing "brand" and they are long term whereas United (and Liverpool) are in decline.
