And here it is in a nutshell......you can berate them, hate them, criticise them for wanting rid of LvG, (please refer to All your post match threads on Pellers)You can defend yourself on spending money just because United may or may not have spent more (but money earned and money given are 2 different things)you complain about Silva or Augero being injured(like you have no other players or the fact you spunked over £100 mill on sterling and KdB)whilst they are going through the worst period of internal blundering and injuries not with standing the poorest squad in years.....but yet they are only 3 points behind you.
Hatred is one thing....I get that....I despise Rochdale being an Oldham fan but sometimes that bitterness and hatred blinds the fact that you are really in no better position than them.
You can fuck right off with that shit.
They got into the position they are in through being in the right place at the right time. Throughout their history they have spent money that they did not earn and guess what? That investment led to them being the cash cow they are today.
Similarly, we have made an investment and are now making a shit load of money. The only difference between the owner investment is the scale of it. Don't forget, City spent what they had to because of the way football had progressed. It wasn't City shelling out £30 million on the Granny Shagger and Camel Chops 10 years ago was it? If Sheikh Mansour would have invested in the early 90s then we would have spent a fraction of what we have.
I actually wish that there was an alternate universe where we could see what would happen if clubs could only strictly spend what they earn. Since the PL started there has always been a correlation with success and money spent. To even try and argue that is plain stupidity. If there was no City, Chelsea or Blackburn then it would have been United, Arsenal and Liverpool becoming even bigger than they are and us being in a tin pot league.
All this talk about teams being able to grow and challenge 'organically' is again unproven rubbish. When teams like Southampton, Dortmund and Atletico Madrid have success, the vultures at the top come down and poach their stars and the normal order is resumed. Just watch what will happen to Vardy and Mahrez at Leicester.
United managed to keep the 'class of 92' because financially they could. When West Ham brought through their golden generation, they could not hang onto the likes of Defoe, Lampard, Carrick and Ferdinand.
You can turn round and say that the likes of West Ham, Leicester and Everton are all in a stronger financial position today than they was 10 years ago and you would be correct. However, that is ignorant to the fact of how much external ownership investment has improved the PL brand. With no City and Chelsea there would be no mega TV deal.
The Sky TV deal will always slightly favour the bigger clubs and the CL deal has been rigged so the established clubs get a pass to the latter stages where the big bucks are.
