These are the fans of the Busby Babes, the fans with "ethics" and "standards". And now they are embracing Mourinho. I'm sure they are all justifying the appointment to themselves, but they must be a bit doubtful. The Chosen One got a year, LVG two, but I doubt Mourinho will be get more than a year. He's got a difficult job. They've got rid of LVG thinking that this regimented manager is holding back their players, but the truth is they have the worst squad in our lifetime. Maybe LVG has part responsibility for that, but they aren't getting out of it in one year.

The dice is loaded against Mourinho and deep down they don't like him.

Having said that part of me thinks Dutch Tony is glad to get out of that cesspit. I mean taggart is like a bad smell hovering in the background and it didn't surprise me he got his bacon face in on the act getting a photo with the cup and van gaal. He still runs the roost at unsold Trafford in my eyes does taggart, once a control freak always a control freak and it's obvious he can't let go. Mourinho will be his little bitch for however long he lasts there.

I don't believe this. I think he is well and truly gone from having any real influence, and he doesn't want to, because every morsel of suffering they've gone through since his departure only cements (in his mind) how great he was. I know this is perverse -- but that's how autocratic megalomaniacs think. I've always thought Utd was always merely the instrument of his own self-aggrandizement, because the ownership group was stupid and nut-less enough to give him free reign after a period of success. Trouble is, autocratic megalomaniacs don't plan for succession because they don't care about it. The organization is a means to an end. The "United way" was always a sham -- it was Ferguson's way or the highway, and he's gone, so they've only the highway -- and they've been run over by better run clubs while they founder about. It's fucking delicious.

There's just as many potential upsides to this as there are downsides, possibly more. It could quite possibly end up with a Scarface-style denouement sometime around mid-March.

Personally I think February could be the month he is sacked or possibly sectioned.

Giggs will probably leave this Summer and Nicky Butt will be the saviour who leads them back into the top half of the table and secures the final Europa League spot on the last day of the season.

If The Pony One takes over at the swamp, does anyone understand what vision that lot have on football? Turtle needed to build. Giggy to take over. It failed but it was vision. Kind of. Now you bring in Jose and you know what you gonna get. And that is completely different to what was planned at first. They simply don't know. I'd love to see where City and them stand in 3 years time ...
In three years you will, just wait.

Not in my lifetime!

The squad that was relegated in '74 was worse than this one.

Not often I agree with you Marvin, but you have that nailed. They're in a mess, he might short term, improve things (I'm not convinced he will), but longer term the damage will be worse, and might take years to repair.

Can't wait.

SSN outside OT doing their best to paint a picture of sacking harmony.

United's PR and media team working overtime Today.

Much of what you post is correct, but he does still have "influence" just by sitting there with that sour face.

He knew exactly when the time was right to leave, the end of the season that we should have kicked on from winning the league but failed (how we f**ked that season so badly, only mancini will know).

He knew that season was a bonus for him, almost single handedly van persie got him that title, but he knew it was over, it wouldn't happen again, and better still he was happy to leave them f**ked. Since then he's glowered in the background, and he will next year too, because he doesn't want anyone to be even close to emulating him, and that's the best bit, he f**ked them, and he'll be happy sitting there knowing that nobody will ever reach his heights again.

Wanted to read some fantasy tonight so I stopped by rag cafe.

"My number 1 choice was either Klopp or Ancelotti but I definitely would have preferred Mourinho over Guardiola, have a feeling he will fail desperately in England for some reason. Managing Man City is his first big test, make no mistake. David Moyes would have won the Bundesliga with a team like Bayern Munich."

I feel the need to clarify...

Basically i noted in the other thread the chance of hassle and his contribution would end up a net loss for utd...

Ok so i don't think he is shit at all, on the same token i don't rate him as high as some do.

The prem is very physical, i know it gets said a lot but it is the simple truth, big powerful defenders who could easily go into their Olympic teams doing other sports/events in a fair few cases.
Ok Kompany has a dodgy leg but look at how he is built, he would chuck Yan Zelezny, Backley and the javlin into the middle of next month.
Ibrahimovic has never had a motor at the best of times, he also will not get an easy ride of defenders here, they won't be bullied.
If they get 20 fiull matches worth out of him they should consider that a success in part on it's own.

Add that in with the characters at utd and the dynamics that could so very easily evolve, namely bad ones gives you imo a negative over the course of a season.
I may be totally wrong and it goes perfect but i can handle that. When they start taking young but proven talents i will worry.
As it is they took a risk on Marshall and Rashford was forced upon them and they again got rather lucky (thus far) with both.

If they are kept of the top tier and have to take risks then fair enough, a lot will fail and it is a long way from the all conquering get any player they like stuff from 10-15 years ago.
They will be picking up our crumbs and for me that is fine, yes i would like to see the spectacle of them getting relegated but it is not going to happen any time soon is it in all honesty.

We have been daft but we are not rudderless as they very much seem to be, rudderless or at least without any clear direction is a state i am content seeing them in, worse would of course be better though.

I hope LVG just starts dishing the dirt, I'm sure he plenty to dish.

If there is a silence clause in his settlement, he somehow doesn't seem to me to be the type of person to respect it. Most of it will probably be in Holland and in Dutch.... It's more a question of whether our "free" press will cover the stories.

I urge our international friends to keep their ears to the ground and to keep us informed.
