United Thread 2015/16

I think we have to be realistic about the Mourinho appointment. It will put United at the top table for transfers this summer even without CL football. That's pretty much the only downside I can see. From a footballing perspective, trying to take on Guardiola without a Ronaldo in his side is going to end very very badly for United and Mou.

Expect the bullshit to start in his first press conference too. Anything to distract from his record against Pep.

So long as City buy enough of the kind of players Pep needs - big names or otherwise - l think it will be tough for the rest of the league, Mou included. However, it is hard to imagine Mou won't have some trophy success at the Rags before it all ends in tears; not the kind Pep shed yesterday. Mou will no doubt attempt to get under Pep's skin and that will be a potential irritant.

If this happens it's quite surprising to me, as the Glazers could have got away with another season of Louis & saved themselves a lot of money. But perhaps they had already agreed it in panic.

There are a lot of people inside that club, who have briefed the media that they would not accept a character like Mourinho & been convinced that they were so influential that it would never be something they have to deal with. Well it is starting to look as if they may have to. So does Sir Bobby now have his picture taken with his arm round the bloke he considers unworthy ? Or does he sit in the background, along with like minded people, waiting for him to fuck up ?

A 'Fifth Column' at the swamp. With a manager who has cracked up completely under pressure, in his last two jobs.

Also there are huge numbers of rags' fans who have always been dead against this, most of whom will change their tune overnight.

Fifth column, turncoat fanbase. Ok if he's winning, but if & when it goes wrong ?

Fun & games.

This is actually old school City in its planning.
The politics at united are poisonous, even by football clubs' standards. Ferguson, Charlton and their acolytes, most especially the 'Class of '92' will be plotting against Mourinho from the outset, because if he succeeds their power base will become significantly eroded.

As to rags fans; most football fans are good at blowing with the wind when it suits, ours included. Still piss funny though.

I have just seen the video of United players singing "why don't City f*** off home" in their dressing room after the final. It must be one of the funniest things I have seen....the obsessed debate is officially over....the proof is now on film forever....hahaha!!!!!!!.

The treatment of LVG and now this.....what a pathetic and classless club they have become.

I personally reckon that United are getting Mourinho for all of the wrong reasons.

If they wanted him that badly then they would have got him when Taggert left. He was available after leaving Madrid and if United wanted him then there is no chance he would have returned to Chelsea. Likewise, they could have got him in January when they still had a realistic shot of winning the PL, never mind finishing in the top 4.

They have been reluctant to get him for a reason and it is because everything he stands for is 100% against everything they preach. How will the club who don't sack managers, or play attacking football and bring through youth cope with a manager who is notorious for doing the complete opposite?

They tried to get their Fergie Mk 2 when they appointed Moyes and it spectacularly backfired. They then tried to get a well respected continental coach who met their philosophical criteria. We can all laugh at Van Gaal but he has given the opportunity to a lot of youngsters. Now all that has failed they are going for the safe bet.

One could assume that the minute you abandon your long term principles for short term gain then you are indeed in a crisis. But for United they need the CL and Mourinho is the best possible candidate for that. They will have looked at the emergence of Spurs and West Ham and seen Us and Chelsea bring in top managers and will know that getting a top 4 place will be harder than ever.

Maureen will have to change to appeal & succeed there. He will remodel himself. Expect a change in style, tactics & behaviour

Mr Nice Guy......attacking tactics.....and massive spending for 2 seasons + provocative mind games against Pep.

We've missed the opportunity to dominate them for years & years.

Just because he wants to change his style don't think that he magically can. He tried this with Chelsea the second time round and had to stop because they were shipping an obscene and uncontrollable amount of goals. He had to revert to type to get Chelsea the title. This eventually sent him down the same hole which resulted in the same conclusion - Players downed tools and he got the boot.

Still, good to see the epitome of club class sack their trophy winning manager. Was Mourinho in the stands?

True to some extent, but if City appointed a manager half our fans hated, we would have civil war on here for years, even if said manager was successful.

If Mourinho doesn't get off to a flyer, it could be very interesting, as will be the reaction of Jose's army of lickers at Chelsea.

Maureen will be alright for a couple of seasons because he likes to have a common enemy to play up to, and he will needle about Pep and be a pantomime twat about City which the fans will love. The major issue for them will be off the pitch, because Herr Charlton hates him and Ewar Woowar is too lame to manage it
