A good analogy on the Rags plight here from the brilliant Warren Zevon, the lyrics say it all, and it's a thumping
rock choon...

£500k a week , 4.5 year contract for a 29 year old , and £35m for a player available for nowt in 20 weeks , financial suicide , must stop laughing my sides are splitting , Yoonited the club that keeps on giving :^0)
When you see the numbers wrote down , it's like ....wow. Those are numbers I would expect to pay for messi.
If it doesn't work out , how do you move guys on . They would just sit and take the money.
One man does not make a team. We are so lucky that something special is being created at city.

Mind you I would pay those numbers to get Pep for 5 more years.......

Do you hate United even more than you hate us? I definitely hate them more than any other team, I look upon Everton as a little brother and you as a distant friend who came on good times after years of poverty.
Yes, very much so. And FC United. But Liverpool are next on the list.

These are generlaisations but are the things that stick out most from both sets of fans more than any other clubs. United fans have a stinking arrogance that nobody else has but Liverpool fans have this deluded blinkered outlook on their club to the point where they're like a cult. It's like your heads are in the clouds and LFC are up there dancing around in the clouds with the fans above everyone else. Nobody could ever say a bad word about LFC because nobody in the cult would believe it. Rags have a more evil bitter twisted arrogance about them than delusion. They are horrible ****s!

Neither set of fans understand that their football clubs and fanbases are no more special than Rochdale's or Tranmere's. No club is special. No fans are special. Every club is just another football club. Some seem to get some good fortune with money and then trophies (because one has always followed the other from day one in football back in the 1800s and has never and will never be any different. Rags and Liverpool fans don't understand that neither) but Liverpool and then United just happened to win more things when money was growing massively in the game so could sustain more title challenges and cup runs than other clubs had managed in the past. That's the one and only thing that separates the Rags and Liverpool from the rest of the clubs, nowt else at all. Just good timing with money flooding into the game and just getting the right manager to fit in with that there and then.

Both sets of fans - Arsenal fans too - seem to think that the way clubs like City and Chelsea have won trophies is the "wrong" way or in an "unethical" way. But in reality no club in England has ever won anything without huge investment first. Doesn't matter where that comes from, local business/global business, it's the same principle for everyone; success from investment. Tell that to a Rag, Liverpool fan or Arsenal fan. Christ they won't have it. "sugardaddy" "oil money" "won the lottery" but so did the Rags with Henry Davies and James Gibson, so did Arsenal with Herbert Chapman so did Liverpool with the Moores.

Neither set of fans seem to grasp history outside the years when they were successful neither. They don't ever seem to understand that they were as shit as any bottom half Championship side are currently. That at the time they were at their lowest, clubs like City and Chelsea were winning titles and cups and pulling in crowds over 80000. It's just that back then there wasn't the prize money, television money or sponsorship that was seen from the 1970s onwards and upwards.

Excellent post PC.

Sadly for the reasons you have so accurately identified, this will be totally lost on the " supporters " of both United and Liverpool , because they do not accept the truth and prefer to bury their heads in their " belief that their club is super special, talented, successful and always above criticism " .

The collective name for both sets of fans is definitely CNUTS.
