He fails to mention they get no extra revenue for those shirt sales.
Just had an interesting conversation about this on Twitter with someone who seems to know what he's talking about. When Adidas paid them £75m up-front, there was a sales target to achieve before they got any additional revenue from shirt sales. So Adidas basically said they wouldn't get a percentage from shirt sales until they achieve 10m sold (for example) and they reckoned that might take the whole 10 years of the contract (or less maybe).

It seems they've released a load of retro shirts to help them meet the target and they've achieved it ahead of schedule. That means they now get their 10% or whatever for each shirt sold. That sounds impressive on one level but just reinforces my belief that to a large degree they're running to stand still financially.

They have also progressed in the knock out stages of Champions League...so have they officially beat Sevilla.
In the 6th round of F A Cup so they have beaten Huddersfield ...does Wooden Ed have a crystal ball or are referees under orders to ensure they progress.

No crystal ball just match officials to ensure safe passage.

It's a known fact that United sell 3 million shirts a year plus or minus almost nothing. It's also known that while other clubs generally get 10%-15% royalties on shirt sales, because United's deal with Adidas is so front loaded with a guaranteed cash amount they get only 5%-6% royalties and they only kick in when the threshold has been reached. How many times have rags banged on about shirt sales paying for players' transfer fees and wages? They've already been saying it about Sanchez but this myth was exploded in a very good Guardian article after Pogba signed and deluded bullshitting rags were insisting he'd already paid back his transfer fee in shirt sales within weeks of signing.

We'll know when they're desperate when they flog the swamps naming rights.

To be honest I'm amazed they haven't done it anyway. Must be worth a fortune.

Christ, they've just won the self proclaimed "Most Instagram posts for January" Championship according to Woodturd on the SSN website, courtesy of Wankchez's move from the gooners. Comical.

Swamp farming can provide valuable low-carbon energy, wildlife habitat and a means of depolluting waterways – and help reduce carbon emissions in the process
