I too have always hated the rags. Even before football was invented in 1992. Nothing to do with success they've had. Revealing how Frank classes the Dippers,Chavs and Arse as traditional rivals. Obviously a convert to the greatest game following his Sky subscription in 1992 and seeing the rags win it. I'm of the opinion my greatest rival is my nearest geographical club. Not a team 200 miles away that I don't even know any supporters of.
The whole Liverpool, united rivalry is a construct of the modern age. Probably started in earnest in the mid to late 70's. I reckon the 1977 FA Cup Final acted as a catalyst. It got pretty tasty around Wembley for that game. Before that it was a bit of a middling fixture. It's one of the reasons I chuckle to myself when those associated with both clubs proclaim that it will "always" be the biggest domestic fixture; thus displaying a discernible inability to look backwards as well as fowards.

I like City supporters and we've always got on, at least on a personal level but I can understand the animosity some of you direct at big bad United.
All those years of watching United's success has taken it's toll but perhaps it is time to let it go now. No? It's a shame that you don't seem to be able to allow yourselves enjoy your recent success. I don't know if this is to do with the fact that you got lucky and are a lottery club. But why do you care so much. Money is money and now you have just paid £50 million for an okay-ish defender, the most expensive defender in history. Astonishing stuff so it is kind of shocking especially with your history but really it's fantastic stuff and you should just celebrate and enjoy your good fortune. Forget about United's success. Chelsea seem to have no qualms about celebrating winning thanks to their sugar daddy so why the hell should you?
You deserve all the success that comes your way no matter who is paying for it. Both clubs Manchester United and City can be successful and I for one would rather yourselves were winning rather than our more traditional rivals like Liverpool, Arsenal Chelsea etc.

Definitely a Blue on the WUM.

Was there a "real rivalry" before Liverpool started sweeping all before them, and the rags were also rans? From memory (as a kid) I remember Liverpool winning everything under the sun, yet Utd still getting the press headlines/bias some things never change. It was all built up to keep the rags relevant imo. Crafted in the media as an English classico, when one of the team's hadn't won a title for Two decades. I think both clubs and supporters have milked it since, but milking something is nothing new to either of these clubs.

I make no apologies for being ignorant on the matter but could anybody tell me is Pogshite classed as homegrown.

I had a 'discussion' with a rag last night and the arsehole was convinced Pogshite was one of the dozens of homegrown wankers they bring through every month. I was sure he didn't do the full 3 years at the swamp before going to Juv for fuck all.
