Concession yes , to the media , to save his own skin if/ when we win title . Inside, he will never give in . He will pursue us until it is mathematically impossible to catch us . Let's not believe one word that comes out of his mouth
And he still doesnt get any flak from the media spends 350m and still miles from us........doesnt he always win the title in his 2nd season wherever he goes ? the media all told us prior to last season that he has the edge over Pep with his past Prem experience

Come on now, as much as I despise maureen and that club, that part is simply not true, he's taken loads of flak this season.

There's a new thread on the CAF.

It's the best ever.

Arsene Wenger - “The huge financial power of some clubs is basically destroying the competition."

1 post.

Clubs like City and PSG who are supported by sovereign wealth and spend without justification or sustainability deserve no respect or plaudits, no matter what they win. At least when us, Real, Barca and others spend we've earned that right due to our commercial success, sustainability and popularity.

:-/

They really are fucking deluded, in denial, liars, have short memories, want the everything their way, etc.

Either they are thick as f*** , or they truly believe what they write?

There does seem to be an ingrained belief that the sheikh/Abu Dhabi is still putting money in to keep City solvent, that City don't comply with accredited accounting rules somehow, and that it's not sustainable.

Rather baffling really, given the total lack of evidence to support it, and quite large amount to counter it.

Another delusion they collectively have. We are some how a one season wonder who will drop off next season with them closing the gap. There is nothing that points to that at all. At worst for us we continue the gap as we get better together with additions. United still look like strangers to each other all to often.

Agreed.

Ederson, Stones, Laporte, Mendy, Sané, Sterling, de Bruyne and Jesus will all be a year older and, hopefully, a year better.

Meanwhile, the rags' team is full of players in their late 20s/early 30s, whose best days are behind them.

If the roles were reversed these last two seasons for Pep and Mourinho, do you think the level of ‘flak’ would be at the same level?

Let’s not forget the actual laughing and scorn from all media last season at how Pep methods would not work in the EPL and this isn’t a one or two horse league like where he has come from, the exact opposite to what they are saying now.

Not having a go mate, genuine question...

Ah, but according to sad café, next season is his real second season at the swamp.

How the fuck they work that out, I’ll never know!

Your reply has nothing to do with the comment I made.

Maureen HAS come in for a lot of criticism THIS season.

I guess so, though a couple of hours on the Bluemoon Match Day thread makes be think the English are a standard deviation or two ahead . . . :) Yanks more just stop going or caring. There's definitely a big bandwagon element. No one where I live gave two fucks about the Golden State Warriors basketball team for 30 years until they got good again. All this perhaps explain why I fell in love with City 15 years ago and detest Utd virulently.

Sport isn't quite as tribal over here save for certain every strong rivalries. Police don't separate the away fans -- opposing fans sit freely next to each other; firms don't typically lie in wait in dark alleys to pick off lone opposing fans; there's no singing nor much unified chanting (save for Duke University basketball fans) unless prompted by a giant TV screen.

Only positive is I can have a beer (albeit a crap one) while sitting in the stands in the US during the game. Other than that, much prefer the fandom in the UK.

For me, US fans are very passionate but it’s a different type of passion. I would equate college football is the closest thing to European football. The fans are much much more passionate than any other sport here. Other than college sports, there is not the same level of passion among pro sports. The main thing I do like about American sports is that we extend a longer leash on coaches. Very rarely do you see coaches or managers get fired as quickly as they do in Europe.

Is it really baffling?

State/oil/Arab/sugar daddy/ gets repeated over and over and when Wenger repeats the lie and it goes unchallenged what hope is there?

This confection suits the media narrative, it provides handy cover for other owners to plead poverty or hide behind "good governance" and fans of rival clubs (and all clubs really) want to believe it, so why would it cease?

It's where we are now mate. The glory days of United are over. Their 'fans' grew so accustomed to winning league titles 3 or 4 out of every 5 years and now all they have to cling on to is a Europa League triumph, having more fans, getting more retweets, and giving plenty of excuses as to why they are no longer winning.

This year will make 5 on the bounce that we finish ahead of them in the league, and we will have done so in 6 of the last 7 seasons. The thing is, we haven't spent a ton more than they have, and they have a ton more rebuilding to do than we do.

That place has gone to shit these past couple of years. Used to be a good read if you could ignore the usual bitter regulars. I think they've changed the format now but you used to get the newbies heading over to the City threads for the intentions of getting likes.."I know, I'll be the first to mention oil..lol lol" Literally, every thread on there about us is the same fucking shit posted again and again. It's like groundhog day. Surely they don't post the same regurgitating crap thinking they're the first to post it?

I'm still trying to find where this 'moral right' is written in the laws of football, or in owning a football club.

Does the thick...... not know the history of the cartel clubs, which is littered with politics, bribes, deals behind closed doors, support from Governments, Councils, Banks, big Business, etc.

They never mention Delaware, the Cayman Islands, Tax Havens, how they carved up tbe Sky Sports money in 1993 when football started again, kept all the away gate receipts, threatened to breakaway unless their demands were met, and in general shitted on every other club outside the cartel to make more and more money for themselves. That includes Arsenal. Obviously Wenger still doesn't know any of this.

Everyone is laughing at Maureen's concession, but missing the funniest point ........... He actually thinks they are good enough to get second ! FFS ... they'll be lucky(VERY) to hang on to top 4.

Didn't he criticise Wenger for not winning, and yet coming 2nd is now good enough for the " most deluded club in the world ".

Your irony detector appears to be on the blink!
