Bumped into a rag in the pub last night that I had not seen for a couple of years. When the subject of football cropped up he said he does not like it anymore - because all players dive and cheat. He then launched into a bitter diatribe moaning that :

City pressing is based on fouling and pulling shirts and should get yellow cards.

Keen and schole would not put up with the pressing and would easily beat this city team. They would knock ball over to Hughes and would volley a goal.

Spent 500 million and only won league cup.

Lost so Wigan.

Francis Lee was biggest diver.

And for all these reasons this is not a good city team.

I think the rag club and support are shell shocked by the success of city are now insane!

I’d really love to win it before the Derby and then turn the Derby into one big celebration - we could really rub their noses in it.

If we lift the title against United I think we should blast out the theme to neighbours on the tannoy

Investors want returns on their money, the Qataris might be happy with a loss leader but other investors won't always be, they want their 5/6/7% per anum or they'll sell and take it elsewhere
Meanwhile...
Absolutely, but that can come through dividends and capital gains. Football investors over the last 10 years have benefited hugely from the TV deals that have exponentially increased. It’s not unfathomable that our owner could turn a profit at the end of it all.

Let’s take ADUG investment top level:
  • Bought City for £210M in 2008
  • Incurred net losses of £535M since
  • Invested further £200M in facilities/Balance Sheet
  • Sold 13% Stake for £265M
The figures are rough and other things will no doubt be missing, but overall that reads an £680M investment in return for an 87% stake in City as they stand today. That’s not a bad investment at all, and would most certainly turn a profit. The very small initial £210M purchase is the key here.

Some people will read this and go into meltdown about sponsorships and distorted revenue. Take it, let’s remove an additional £50M a year since 2008 to 2017. Another £500M invested, and that’s pretty generous. Now it reads £1180M invested for 87% stake in City as it stands today. That’s still not a bad investment at all. You could flog De Bruyne for near 20% of that.

However you spin it, it reads well for the initial City investors. Whether the Chinese company will ever see a return for the £265M is a different question entirely, because they didn’t benefit from a fire sale price and financial growth in the sport during the investment.

My missus took a group of 15 year old school kids to the swamp for a business field day. Yes I’ve given out about why they went there of all places for this if nothing else given that their model is poor. Anyway it was mainly out of her hands.

Their experience consisted of a typically arrogant rag twat telling them how they could pay the debt off tomorrow (so why don’t they?), how they don’t have to rely on oil money to run the club and and how he had to be called into St Bede’s to help City’s youngsters who literally all fail their GCSEs.

Some of the City kids on the trip did have a laugh about the crumbling and complete lack of general maintenance of the stadium although they were accosted by a group of security gorillas threateningly gurning and pointing in their faces when one unfurled a City flag. They’re 15 remember.

They’re going to City next year.
Like a prestigious school such as St Bedes needs support from a part-time swamp rat who's just an over inflated tour guide

Lovely two page spread in today’s Times about the crisis the scum are facing as their Under 23 team are bottom of the league and 5 points off safety, facing almost certain relegation.
It mentions that even the scum management accept they are crap. One of them was farmed out on loan to S****horpe but came back because he could only get one game for th3m before being dropped.

It’s why suggestions that it was their greatest team are asinine. It was a great team, but their team of a decade or so later would have battered them.

Ronaldo, peak-Rooney and Tevez absolutely pisses all over Sheringham, Yorke and Cole. As for the defences, the gulf was even bigger: Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand and (to a lesser extent) Neville was the best back 4 in club football at the time. I reckon David May might have struggled to get in that team. The midfields were pretty evenly matched: Keane was imperious at that time tbf so the ‘99 midfield might barely edge it. Only in the goalkeeping dept. could you categorically state that ‘99’s incumbent was discernibly better, but not overwhelmingly so; van der Sar was still a top ‘keeper.

according to Keown on Football Focus just now their 99 team was their best of all time and better than our current team..............

Lol. Did you suggest he goes and supports a 'real' football club, FC United?

That’s the thing with the past your mind plays tricks on you that 99 team was dogged has plenty of goals in it but football wise ain’t a patch on this city side.

If City win tomorrow, United will be equidistant from us and....Burnley.

Did he mean like in this game?

Keowns justification was titles - they won 3 PL tiles on the bounce so thats his criteria - we clearly point to our superior football and the fact we are likely to eclipse any goals and points total they ever had. We will just have to win everything ( and put up with the brickbats that brings) to shut them up eh?
