Could it be that united’s best chance to make progress was to sack Mourinho at the end of last season and get Sari plus Jorginho from Napoli? To do exactly what Chelsea did. And maybe to spend a bit more too on Hazard or another top bill.

Or was it to get Emery before Arsenal did or Ramieri while he was available to bring a fresh positive perspective to everything.

I think 'anyone but PEG' would have been a good strategy. The cracks were already showing from Christmas onwards tbf.
