The thing that nags at me is whilst City are obviously ‘big spenders’, somebody told me yesterday that they have never spent more than £60m on a single player (is that right?) and in the meantime in the last 5 years, it’s not as though we haven’t been able to compete with them in the market. Consequently, as much as I’d like to use the ‘flouting the rules’ argument, it seems a bit hollow and sounds increasingly like we are clutching at straws because they could win everything. On this final point, these feckers are just 15 games away from winning the lot, which makes my blood run cold. For me, this is about stability and having the best manager in the World rather than outspending us.

I know but Old Trafford itself was paid for by a scouser. They never seem to know that though. Gifted a stadium by outside, unearned money. It shouldn't be allowed.

I'd have a little bit more sympathy for their arguments of " financial doping" if they acknowledged their own doping long before any body else's and started a fans petition to remove every trophy from their history that was won before somebody else paid for and built their ground for them with money that the club hadn't earned.

They wont though. Financial doping is only wrong when brown people do it.

I used to know a guy who worked for Stott Benham (which was a plumbing engineering company) from the 1950s through to the 80s. None other than Phil Jones wannabe Duncan Edwards was an apprentice there before his career took off (they had to do this just in case). Let's just say that tapping-up and the 'Busby Babes' were synonymous, even back then.
