United thread 2018/19

I don't know if it's just me, but has anyone else felt the ground swell of United fans wanting us to win the league, shift in the last week?

With the media and ex United player's all now in full cry that this quadruple is actually on, there appears to be, to me anyway, a shift towards Liverpool winning the league, thus preventing the possibility of us emulating United's treble.

I don't actually think it's possible anyway, as
our full back positions in my opinion, are a problem that Barca, Juve, etc. could well exploit, whilst keeping their own door shut.

Notwithstanding that, following this international break, I see the mood changing further.

Every rag or dipper sports editor in the media (there are loads), will, along with FIFA, UEFA, FA and EPL, pile pressure on the referees and our opposing team's alike, to do anything, legal or not, to halt this cheating, human rights abusing, Arab, footballing juggernaut, from doing a clean sweep of all trophies.

It just won't be permitted.

Can you really see the authorities hand over all their trophies and medals, before then giving us transfer bans for signing underage players, competition bans for flouting FFP rules, fines for paying Sancho's agent etc?

I expect more poor refereeing decisions, dangerous tackles going unpunished, and opposing teams getting more of the rub of the green (if that's even possible).

Where they should be praising the joyful way these Catalan guys go about playing football and running a club, I sadly, expect more xenophobic vitriol.

I'm not expecting names from our club going on herself's new year's honours list as they should.

'kin' 'ate international breaks

It's a great reason to be out the country when those two are going head-to-head for the title," Rooney, who now plays for Major League Soccer side DC United, told talkSPORT.

"I hope Man City get over the line before Liverpool. I couldn't bear to see them win it,

Well he is a scouser and an Everton fan to boot, so even though he has no love for us due to all those years of playing for United and us giving him stick, we’ll still be his preferred option to win the league ahead of the red dippers. Just!

Think as you wish, IMO it’s nonsense.

City broke about twenty records (sic) last season, many of them created in uniteds dominant period and many long before their dominance.

Mancini came along and stood up to the bullying win at all costs hypocrite, if you think that didn’t get to him, you’re pissed.

He had already quoted the ‘noisy neighbours’ and ‘not in my lifetime’ shit, so Mancini keeping good to his word and breaking that dominance showed ferguson for the egotistical idiot his words deserved.

As for you saying ferguson drove Mancini out and ‘won the war’, pathetic nonsense.
After the title win, Mancini had not been able to get the players he wanted for City (Van Persie being one of them) and more importantly lost the City dressing room due to his own arrogance (personally loved Mancini) and that is why Mancini left, not because ferguson won the league that year.

As for ferguson ‘winning the war’, his own win at all costs and arrogance led him to buy Van Persie and not the actual players he needed to address the problems the united team actually should of been looking at to meet the ongoing challenge City had presented them.
This in turn led him to retire with the one more title he wanted to placate his own ego, and in turn has led them to 4/5 managers and more than half a billion spent and despite a couple of league 2nd places, they have been miles of each Premier winning team since.

They still look nowhere near winning the league and are currently competing for the fourth place trophy left vacant by Arsenal, the new united way.

Six years and counting since ferguson placated his ego, and united are still spending and still changing managers. City have won two more Premier leagues since and are currently fighting for every trophy available and we are in April almost, united have an outside chance in the Champions league and the fourth place trophy.

Winning the war, what utter bollocks.

Funny thing about that Ferguson "not in my lifetime" comment. There's been 25 derbies since he said that, and it's a dead even split.

P25 W11 D3 L11.

Since the 6-1 we've been winning about twice as many as them, but to be honest I still think we should be doing better - although to be fair they probably thought they should do a lot better in the early 00's when they were the much better side and we consistently took points off them.

Very nicely summarised
