I don’t think Maguire is a bad signing. Remind me of Cahill going to Chelsea and some turning their nose up but him proving himself over the years.

I think a CB addition is plugging one hole when they have 4 or 5 holes to fill.

Maguire would be the most expensive defender in history, Cahill was a bargain bucket buy off a relegated team. They are similar level of players, who could do a job as a solid but not great CB for a good team, but no more than that. For Cahill's price, that's decent, for Maguires, that's pretty terrible

Listen let's get it right, all utd are bothered about is having the most expensive defender in the world in their starting 11, it's all about publicity.
Look at the nauseating remarks every time pogba played.
"The world's most expensive midfielder starts for man utd..."
Blah blah blah fuckin blah.
It's a waste of time having a Ferrari in the ranks when the mechanic works for datsun.

It’s plugging a hole that doesn’t need filling, as they already have four or five and are in much greater need in several other positions, including both full-backs.

At least if they splurge their transfer kitty on another CB, it will mean less available to correct other areas of need.
 
Spent the weekend with some raggy mates and came across a new game when discussing the new season with them.

usual crap from them: great season last year, going to be strong this year, etc. Then I moved the chat on to individual players: shaw, jones, smalling, etc. Commented that for a "massive" club like them they needed better personnel. Agreed the first few times, but twigged about the use of "massive" after about 3 players.

See how many "MASSIVES" you can fit in with any Rag mates you have before they twig :)

I'd give it a go but id struggle to get off my back if any of the ones I know said they had a great season last season. Truly fuckin comical !

They have 5 - 2 of them were signed by Mourinho. Madness if they sign another and go into the season with 6 and not a decent full back under the age of 30 something.

A mate of mine who's a blue, but gets snippets from the swamp told me to today that Pogba and his agent are pushing hard for a move. Apparently Mourinho isn't that arsed as long as he can buy again, but the club are worried about the image it portrays if their poster boy wants out. This could get interesting and hilarious in equal measures.
