Tennis court? I lived in the old terrace houses in Hulme and moved up market to Moss Side when they pulled them down in 58.

Back in my Levenshulme days. I was probably the world's best at playing football with a drinks can. Was playing in the street everyday them. One day the old lady who lived a few doors down said "oh kid, stop kicking that can up and down the street". I said I will when you buy me a football. She never did..

1970 you say? I was playing for a Sunday league pub team (similar to the rags now) in those days.

In fairness I was st school in the 80’s & 90’s. We shared our playground with the local leisure centre. By tennis courts, I mean a concrete square with two posts and a net that you needed to rent.
There were loads of stray balls.

But, but, but........... despite playing on sub-standard "pitches", with inferior equipment and coaching, and being a lot younger, the quality of football played in those days by us was of a far higher calibre than the rag scum play today.
