It's not Liverpool the team that City and lots of other fans despise. I once met Bob Paisley and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. They had a truly great team in the 70s and 80s. The problem is that a significant section of their fanbase (not all of them) is despicable. They have a history of violent attacks on our fans going back decades. Nowadays they have some of the worst elements on social media. None of this has ever been called out properly in the UK media but anyone who has been to Anfield knows what it is like there.Just so... I'm beginning to understand why Liverpool is so fiercely disliked though - a segment of their supporters are out-of-control, criminal hooligans.

No disrespect but i dont think foreign fans understand the rivalry between us and those mentioned. Certainly no high fiving between supporters
I think you are spot on. Its one thing facing the local rivilaries since childhood from school to family gatherings etc and its another to face it in the age of social media for foriegn fans where our feelings and emotions would be at par with the locals but we can't match the history which the locals share.
I can imagine it must have been very difficult through the dark years especially when your neighbour is having a ball, so these feelings are understandble for me. I do feel though we should be more open to views and debate objectively.
